Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

Then you install a very weird, wordy plaque in one of the bathrooms laying it all out.

“So, there’s this guy, and he was trying to build a golf course in Utah with hat sales, and then we laughed, and then we ripped off their name, and THEN the guy built a golf course, but not in Utah, and there’s trees, and geese are somehow involved, and now Duncan has Scrooge McDuck as an avatar on this message board, and anyway, here’s Wonderwall…”

Y’know. Or words to that effect.

How many of the Top 10 have you played? Have you had the chance to go out west and play those?

A measly 2/10 for me, currently - Banff and Jasper. Will be back to Banff this year for sure, Jasper is looking less likely this summer. Will keep chipping away, but it’s definitely trickier now I’m west.

I only have the Cabot courses, and now everytime I see this list, I regret not playing Highlands despite staying at the resort on the same trip

That feels like a miss, haha. I just started looking at a map again - highland really is a ways out there hey?

Yeah, but it’s only 2 hours from Cabot and the trip around the Cabot Trail to get there is worth it. I was there super early season, I think the course might had just opened that week anyway

Only one of ten for me (Toronto). And Toronto would be out of the top ten if The National were included, so still only one.

Golf Digest has Tobiano in their top 10 now for Canada and there is 0 chance that Capilano should be rated above Tobiano.

The National was excluded due to its male only membership policy.

Wait… we still have a male only club in Canada.

SMH.

The National is way overrated even when it is on the list like on top100golfcourses.com

And plenty that still only allow women to play after noon on weekends. It’s gross.

I can’t fathom paying to be a member somewhere that excludes me from playing times based on gender.

Most of Ontario’s great courses are private, which is a travesty.

I roll at a different price point than these top ranked courses permit. Feels pretty elitist considering the price of admission and ease of access but hey, maybe that’s the whole point.

The mountain courses are here for me and I’ll probably try them at some point, and I have an in for Cap. I’d love to get out east as well so here’s hoping the public courses can get a tick for me one day. I just have a really hard time paying more than a weekend’s worth of golf fees for a single round. Doesn’t matter the course, the math just doesn’t compute.

Wait until you hear how little property taxes the private clubs in Toronto pay! Even more gross.

For the record, I’m not opposed to the courses being there, but this stuff is obscene when the City is being underfunded and needs to invest in public housing.

6/10! If all goes to plan 9/10 by the end of October :hushed:
