Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

Great view from that tee, shitty hole. Fun course though

I’ve cut the corner once from the blues when they set the tees back. My natural mega slice with a four iron. I didn’t really cut through it as so much sliced at the right time.

Playing the golds on the 7th over the farmhouse is one of the best tee shots in Ontario hands down.

Love Savannah. I’m in Waterloo, would definitely be willing to make the trek out sometime in the next little bit.

One of best tee shots I ever hit in my life pegged off like the top brick of the tallest outcropping of that farmhouse. Bounced back to about 50 feet in front of me. Heartbreaking.

I’d be down for a trip to Savannah been a few years since I played there but always enjoyed it.

Checking in to see if you sold it? My wife bought me a large polo (first NLU purchase), and it doesn’t fit big per se, but it doesn’t fit like other larges I have. Unfortunately, I am a very “in between sizes” guy. Depending on the brand I am either a medium or a large.

Ohhh, you’re another one of those extra-medium guys.

Welcome, welcome.

I was able to sell it, almost instantly!

Lovely huge dump / blizzard in winnipeg just as snow was almost all melted…

Stay strong. We’re getting away lucky here in Edmonton but our very briefly on for golf moment last week withered away in a week of negative temps.

We’ll try push some warm your way soon.

Howdy, my fellow sickos north of the border… wanted to throw out an invite if anyone is near Niagara, ON on Sunday… got a tee time at 8:50AM at the Battlefield course at Niagara Golf Club. Going out as a solo currently but plenty of room for any company, if anyone is interested/free.

I’m looking into getting a new putter. Does anyone have any fitters to recommend in the Kitchener area? Looking to get fit on my way to the tussle.

Modern Golf in Mississauga wouldn’t be too far out of the way.

If you don’t want to travel far the Ontario Golf Academy at Whistle Bear may be able to fit you. I personally would book with TXG in Mississauga. Best in the business around here. They will fit you into any price range, club manufacturer they have/you want. TXG also has the added benefit of a quintic putter system. I believe Modern does as well, but I dont have experience with them so Ill be the shill for TXG.

Apparently TXG needs the money as well, so

TXG and Modern have Quintic putting systems to do with the fit on - highly recommend going that route. They will sell putters for the same price too. Whichever you choose I would book something sooner than later as I think they are both quite busy.

I don’t think OGA does putter fittings (at least it’s not on their website). It’s done on trackman, hitting shots from the bay to the outside (as if you didn’t already know that). Can’t imagine a putter fitting would work in that setup. Best advice is TXG or Modern, but if you’re really not into that you could try Cambridge Golf and Fashions. They’re not a fitting studio but might be able to help??

I know they have bags with putters in them and they let members go and try them in the practice area. I think they told me they could do a fitting with someone watching you, but I wouldn’t bother because I feel like they aren’t as knowledgeable and it probably isn’t any better than just going to golf town.

Would not bother with Cambridge Golf & Fashions. I like the guys who are there but they have a poor selection and no place to practice/hit putts.

Avoid Cambridge Golf and Fashions for any type of fitting, good selection of stuff though and they are super nice.

Massive used club selection though if you didn’t want to go the new route and find something older to your fancy.

Modern Golf is probably going to be the easiest, straightforward, and cheaper route. TXG is good, really good don’t get me wrong… but your paying for Ian’s name without him being the fitter.

OGA would easily be able to help get into a putter; Ben is a high caliber club builder and fitter; plus the Whistle Bear facilities are phenomenal to be at even for a day.

Both TXG and Modern charge $100 fit fee. A putter is an investment over time more than any other club (ideally), so getting it bent/dialed in for your stroke is super helpful. That data will also be on file if you ever want them to move it back.

Depends on your relationship from there but they may even let you hit a couple on Quintic again in future to make sure its still dialed.
