Roll Call: The Duck Club | Canadians, Beer and Cow Pastures

The suspense is already killing me, I hope you’re right!

Maybe one day they’ll open up a post secondary institution and come up with a unique name for it. Like Oxford University or something.

The thought of a gold course in Southern Ontario starting a post secondary institution really is something

Well, with what our Gov is up to these days it would not surprise me.

Fucking weak.

I’ve been sitting here almost all day trying to come up with a good, unique name.

I know what I would want to call my pipe dream course, but that’s very specific to this geographic area.

I feel like they coulda picked something much better.

I think its the THE before Oxford Hills that is off to me. I know I won’t be able to stop myself from using the cadence football players use when the say they went to THE Ohio State.

I hope this course doesn’t elicit the same feeling in me as Ohio State does.

(That is to say, fuck the Buckeyes)

Maybe the brewery will be called The Hills™ and the University will be called The Oxford.

It’s all about consistent branding

I suggested AN Oxford Hills.

So close.

Anyone in the GTA area looking to play this Saturday in Aurora (Westview GC) at like 8:40/8:50? My regular golfing buddy flew west for the winter on me but this weekend weather is looking too nice to pass up. Golf’s on me if anyone’s interested and the course is pretty busy all day so I figured we could rip out before the first group and fly around (hopefully)

Oh man, that’s a lovely offer - I’m going the other way Saturday and I’m in London at lunchtime, so I can’t swing it. Hopefully someone can make it!

Played Tarandowah today in the beautiful weather, but what had to be 50-60 km/hr winds. Felt like every hole was straight into the wind or straight down wind.

Almost drove #2 green (from white tees as I was playing with my dad) but had to hit driver / driver off the deck to even get close to #5 green.

Course is in perfect shape, and the fairways/greens are fast and firm. And the course was as busy as I’ve ever seen it.

That’s a sneaky good place. Didn’t even know it existed for the longest time and wish I’d played it more when I lived in Ontario. Not on any list of sexy Ontario public golf but a solid, mature 27-hole facility.

Glad you liked it, it’s where I learned to play and I’ve played 99% of my rounds there so definitely a special place for me - even if it does take my lunch money every single round. Not shocked you didn’t know it existed, they’ve been on the shitty street sign trend since before Sweetens made it cool

Was 15 degrees on Vancouver Island yesterday…damn time change meant could not get out…sunny and high single digits this weekend and two early afternoon tee times.
Because of demand for tee times, my home club, Nanaimo Golf Club, has moved to a points based lottery system for tee times because the course is still packed…looked last weekend and there were about 3 single spots available all day.
The lottery system awards points based on how close to your requested time you get, you get dinged for no-shows etc…the plan is so that the times can be distributed more equitably. Some of the old bois used to having their same tee time every day are losing their minds. With Snow Birds not heading south this is the busiest we have ever been this time of year.
How are other courses dealing with the increased play, especially with the less daylight?

Typical east coast. Had snow and ice Tuesday/Wednesday, it’s -1C here today and then heading to double digits for Friday and the weekend. Might be wet for the Iron Man on Saturday.

I get that the west coast deals with a lot of rain, but our days of precipitation are pretty close and honestly, I’d rather have the rain and predictability.

The courses that are still open in my part of SW Ontario are doing lotteries too.

We managed to snag a 7:40am tee time on Saturday, so it’ll be a bit chilly of a start but absolutely perfect by the time we reach the back 9.

So in the merging of my two favourite threads on the refuge, I found out today, while doing some deep googling, that the company who made my YOTB weapons, the Accuform PTM’s, have since been sold and now make some very random things.

The best part, a line of rubber ducks! They bring awareness to different safety violations, but they’re awesome. They even have a twitter account. https://twitter.com/accuformducks?lang=en

I can’t wait for the impending release of pinchpoint Patty!
