Roll Call: Tampa Golfers

Tampa suggestions / nesticles looking to play end Jan (26-29)?

I’ll be there for a work trip, have (at minimum) Monday Morning and Wednesday afternoon to fill, possibly Sunday Afternoon as well…

Temple Terrace is a neat 1921 Tom Bendelow design that isn’t far from anything in Tampa. Can be a little scruffy, but the greens are in good shape and it’s challenging. https://www.templeterracegolf.com/

If you don’t mind a bit if a drive you can try Dunedin Golf Club- a great 1927 Ross design. They just re-opened after renovating the greens so it may be a tough tee-time. https://dunedingolfclub.com/

Hi folks,

Booked Streamsong for my bachelor party.

Once the rounds finished, we’re driving into Tampa for the rest of the weekend to meet up with my non-golfer friends.

We’ll have 10-15 people, and here are the places I’m looking at. We want to be close to the water but also not outrageous from Ybor, while also having the option to do St. Pete for a Rowdies game. (sorry that’s picky, but it’ll be a mixture of hard partiers and more laid back drinking types, so I want to make sure everyone’s happy)

Eager to hear locals’ thoughts on the areas. Thank you!

This probably eliminates the East Tampa/Riverview VRBO, would suck to have to go through Tampa traffic to get to St Pete.

Hyde Park is probably the best location for partying, as you get both SoHo and Ybor in the near area. This is probably where I would lean because you can get to St Pete quickly also and Hyde Park is a nice area in general.

Fox Hollow in Trinity, FL. Great course but I think they’re out over their skis on price.

Plantation Palms in Land O Lakes is a tremendous value for being probably the best track in the area.

Not a lot in Tampa proper (rocky point, countryway) that is going to be stellar conditions or pace of play.

If you’re in a pinch really wanting to play and okay with mid courses at mid prices, Heritage Harbour, Heritage Isles and Northdale will scratch the itch.

I’d rule out the Riverview one entirely. If you guys are spending more time “going out” then do the Hyde Park one, if it’s more grill and chill at the AirBnB then do the waterfront villa.

P.S. Call the rowdies ticketing office and ask if they do a group discount. No one calls them and they will frequently upgrade your seats just for being interested in coming to watch the team.

As someone who lived in Ybor for a year and loves Ybor, I highly, highly, highly recommend leaving Ybor by midnight. Shootings in parking garages and surrounding areas go up exponentially.

Thanks for the advice all! Narrowing my options, but still stuck in a decision matrix.

Right in Ybor, but not as spacious for 12-13 folks and no pool

Further from the action, but spacious, pool, etc.

Right on the beach in St. Pete, so we’d do a day into Ybor probably.

Leaning #1, bc we can always pack up and go to a beach Saturday, and I want the convenience of being close to everything, as it looks like Ybor is.

I don’t know what your fascination with Ybor is, but I would go beach house 10/10 times of the three you have listed.

Quite frankly, Ybor is a shit hole. Crummy restaurants and every bar smells like a hockey locker room (combo of sweat and vomit).

Downtown Tampa would be a much better option and you can take the Cross Bay Ferry down to a Rowdies game. It’s a pretty fun trip.

Hi Tampa peeps, I’m looking to get a round in early Friday the 7th. Based on comments here and my availability (can’t make Streamsong work), sounds like Mangrove Bay, DunedIn, or Seminole Lake.

Anyone with strong feelings on any of those courses, for a Friday morning round in 2 weeks?

Ended up getting a place on Bellows Lake

Close enough to everything, spacious, and with a pool and lake access. Bummer to be so far from Clearwater, but we can do a beach day I figured

Now comes the fun part that’s sure to cause no debate at all–where should we go?!

Mangrove Bay is pretty easy to get a tee time. Ive played here the most out of any course around. If you are a single, just walk up to the clubhouse and they ill get you on pretty quickly. For 2 or more, you will need to book online or call. They only do 1 week out reservations online. The mornings get snagged up pretty quick. However, if you get on there early enough, you should get lucky. Never played Dunedin or Seminole Lake. Dunedin just opened back up and heard was a nice spot.

Other courses I have played are Heritage Harbor in Lutz, Buffalo Creek in Palmetto, Rocky Point, Cypress Point, Northdale, Babe Zaharias, Rogers Park, Lexington Oaks, Bloomingdale, The Eagles, Brooksville, Cove Cay, and TPC Tampa Bay.

Hello friends,

Doing Streamsong in April and then Thurs-Sat for the non-golfing friends north of Ybor City.

Any recs on catering spots? Places to hit?

Looking for a game on Thursday the 19th. Thinking either Cabot or Streamsong but down for whatever if anyone is interested.

Definitely interested. Which course are you looking to play at StreamSong?

No real preference. The booking tool isn’t working for me, so I’ll call a little later and see what they have.

Streamsong
Blue: 10:35 or 10:45
Black: 11:33
Red: 9:40 or 11:20

Cabot:
Roost: 9:12 or 9:36
Karoo: 10:48

I’d be down for Red 9:40 or Roost 9:12/9:36

Lets Play Red at 9:40, maybe even get out on the chain after

Has anyone played Calusa CC in Lakewood ranch yet? Keep getting IG ads for it and it looks decent
