We have no kids and will probably be on the move prior to worrying about school districts, so really just looking for a decent area/apartment/rental that’s not too far from her work and bonus if it’s close to a course/driving range. We have a few months so just starting the process so any info is valuable at this point saying we’ll probably sign a lease sight-unseen. There’s no more exhilarating gambling than a one-year living commitment.
You’ll want to be in Hyde Park, South Tampa or downtown in the new Water Street buildout. Absolute best options for a young couple moving to Tampa if St. Pete is off the radar.
We have a @ASplashOfOJ roost event in our area on 7/2 at The Eagles Golf Club in Odessa (Forrest Course).
The format is SUPERMAX Quota - its the quota game the guys play on Tourist Sauce but you get to pick the set of tees you play from which determines your quota for the round via your course handicap.
$10 entry free due at time of signup - Cash App - $SplashOfOJ
Hey guys - ended up buying a house in Tampa Palms and will be moving down in July. Anyone a member at the club corp properties? I’m thinking of joining, although the monthly fees seems pretty steep, but Tampa Palms and Hunter’s Green CC are closest to my house so may be worth it. Otherwise looked into Carrollwood, which would be a longer drive, but at least they had a young exec membership. Wondering what people’s thoughts are for clubs out in that area if anyone belongs? Maybe it’s not worth it and just play public instead?
A friend had me out at Tampa Palms a few months ago and although I didn’t get much detail, I know he’s played at club corp properties all over the country. I believe having that access is a separate charge on top of your local dues. I’ll also say that Tampa Palms kicked my ass.
Visiting the area for the first time next week. I’m staying in the indian rocks beach area. If I was going to play one round where would you recommend?
Thank you so much for the help and recommendations.
You need to join somewhere if you plan to play golf in the greater Tampa area. The public options are pretty awful.
CCC is an OK course but has a nice membership and some of the country club amenities that are attractive if you’ve just moved to FL and have a younger family.
That said, the convenience to the ClubCorp course can’t be overestimated. While the mileage to CCC is not too bad, it’s likely a 45 minute drive from 3PM-7PM regardless of whether you’re coming or going.
Hello fellow Roost members,
I am looking at taking a trip to Streamsong. Can anyone tell me why it is so cheap to go in September? What’s the weather like?
Marginally better, but you’re still as likely to get a 90°+ day as a nice 75°+ day, and there’s still plenty of t-storms. We also had late-September and early-November hurricanes last year. Nov. or Dec. would be better if you don’t want the chance of a rainout.
