Roll Call: South Carolina Golfers

Seems like you have an in at CCC and Yeamans, so this might not really apply, but you can generally always play Ocean, as long as you are willing to pay.

Yeamans and CCC are obviously another animal

Having played Yeamans, CCC, Bulls (once couple year ago so dont remember a lot of the greens), and Oceans, I have to say that the #1 green at the Muni has a legit argument for the best green in town. Its huge, wildly fun, but still tricky. They have several other greens that are also top in town IMO. The punchbowl is cool and all but its too severe/inverted where there is only like 2 possible places for a pin to be put which sucks. Hopefully they get the mowing patterns down and build some short grass run-offs around some of them like was planned but they’re more so just a rough. Only other thing thats been a little annoying is i’ve played it 3 or 4 times and the pins have been in the exact same spot each time.

Thanks to all who replied with recommendations. Ended up playing Muni today. Struggled with the high winds and super firm greens, but what a cool place. Got paired up with a couple other singles and we had a great time.

Looking forward to getting another crack at it some day when I’m not worried about getting blown out to sea.

Got done at the office a little early today and made a run to the closest golf course I could find… Hillcrest. YIKES! Tough scene.

I paid $16 to walk and I feel like I got ripped off.

Learned my lesson, stick to the places that people recommend.

Orangeburg?

That’s the one. Seems like it might have been a fun course at some point before it died of neglect.

I used to work in Orangeburg 2 days a week. Had an afternoon fall apart so I went by there to hit range balls and maybe play 9. Didn’t even get out the truck… just drove back to north Charleston and practiced at wescott.

Good tacos pawley’s island?

Not sure about tacos, but when I’m in Pawley’s I’ll never eat anywhere but the Bisqit ever again.

Bisqit has Nashville hot chicken tacos. Their sister restaurant Quigleys has fish tacos. Bistro 217 has fish tacos as well for lunch. If you’re looking for Mexican then Sol Cocina wil be on the higher end and Habaneros would be the other more traditional option.

Hey everyone, I have two back to back tee times at the Muni tomorrow at 1:15PM and 1:24PM tomorrow. I cant make it anymore but before I call to cancel i wanted to see if anyone in here wants them.

Hey guys I’ll be visiting Beaufort in September and I’m trying to plan my trip. I will have time for two rounds of golf. Where should I play? I’d be willing to travel an hour or so.

Anyone local and wanting play/reserve a tee time at the Muni for out of staters in May?

Saw this too late, but couldn’t have gone anyway as kid 2 has a soccer game in Bluffton. I’ve got a tee time this Friday but every day the rain chance increases.

Good Morning,

I am from North Carolina and as of right now I am still planning to attend the PGA Championship at Kiawah on Friday. I am planning to stay in Georgetown that night and hopefully play Caledonia in Pawley’s Island on Saturday. My questions are: My two buddies backed out and are not going. Is anyone planning to be at tournament on Friday? Would like to meet some other members of the NLU family. 2nd Question - Is there anyone in the southern NC or SC region that would want to play that Saturday? My original plan was to play Saturday morning and then drive back home that evening. TIA

Many months ago we talked about a meet-up during the PGA. I’ll readily admit I’ve neglected any type of planning or preparation. I’m also not even sure if I’ll be able to take the time of work due to schedule around that week. If you or anyone else wants to pick up that mantle, please feel free. If I can make it, I’ll be there too. @hakimimj

Don’t know too much background about these guys but thought it was a nice little look at the Muni. Need to take a day off this fall and head down and check it out.

Hi SC Refugees,
Coming to HHI in May and looking for recommendations/rankings if I had one round of golf. Is Harbour Town worth it? Or are there others that are better?
Thx, Z

Depends on if you want to pay for it. It’s the best course in my opinion and definitely worth it.
