Should be a part of strapped chucktown IMO
I played it just before the super bowl and it was soaking wet, unfortunately all it has done since then is rain so I can’t imagine it now, but everyone in my group had a blast. A couple guys had only played it before the renovation so it was interesting to get their take on the changes. The green complexes are a lot of fun and challenging. I would highly recommend making a trip out there. I think they only do tee times online and they go quick! So plan 7 days out from your trip.
I am on the fence about the shorter pins they use, not sure if it was the overcast day or the pins but we never had a good feeling about depth perception. Every time you got a yardage from your rangefinder you questioned it. I am wondering if anyone else had this feeling as well?
The short pins are kinda weird, although they are cute I think it would be better with normal pins.
Thanks so much
Hello fellow Palmetto State Refugees!
I’m playing out of Greenwood & a member at Stoney Point. If any of you are out this way, look me up!
My buddy plays out there from time to time and raves about it. Will try to get down there late spring/early summer.
Anyone in Columbia want to walk 9 this afternoon before the rain comes back? Was going to try to get out to Oak Hills, Linrick, or Northwoods around 4 and get 9 in before sunset.
I’d be in to walk 9 at Linrick.
ugh, kids very first soccer practice tonight…
Chance I might have to work until 4-4:30 now, should know by 12 if i can make it
No worries, weekday outings always have the “I will be there unless work, kids, or life gets in the way” disclaimer because as @LukeBoatright can attest, I always want to play but seemingly never can
Hey guys, I’ll be working/staying in Orangeburg the week of 3/15. My flight from Philly lands in Charelston on Monday 3/15 at 11am, and I don’t need to be in the office until Tuesday. Is there a hidden gem or a local favorite I should try to play that afternoon? Anyone interested in joining me?
Charleston Muni…reno just completed a few months ago. Look up @Eggman’s video on Instagram.
Orangeburg Country Club is pretty well-regarded. You can get on through Golf Santee or Santee Cooper Golf (local booking services). Not sure what the availability is. Guest fee through them would be a little more than Charleston Muni. Someone on here may have access there as well-it’s in a nice network of courses in SC.
There are several courses in the Santee area too. I played the municipal course in St. Matthews (Calhoun Hills) this fall and thought it was pretty interesting if you were looking for a Strapped type experience.
OCC is a great course. Super lunch, good practice facilities, great conditioning.
OCC would be my recommendation if you had a whole day, but it’s an hour drive at best from CHS. If you only have an afternoon then The Muni is absolutely the play here as It’s 20ish minutes from the airport and you’ll be getting there right after the time change so Plenty of time for 18.
What @tres_carlos said. Misread your post.
If you want a mini tee time you need to be online a week in advance. The tee sheet is slammed right now.
OCC is a fantastic track. I’m an hour away and have thought about the out of town membership a few times.
It’s looking like I’m going to be in Bluffton/HHI area on Friday and have time for a round. Currently thinking about going back to Old South again, but open to any suggestions.
