Windermere probably not far off, same w Woodlands. Wildewood seems to have staved it off
Via HOA support. Woodcreek went belly up 18 or so months ago, now under new ownership. Too much mediocre golf in NE Columbia is waaayyyy right.

Dang. Played it a few times in spring ‘10 when at Jackson.

I think were purchased by a golf course conglomerate so I think they may survive.

The developer bought the course back, I hope he can turn it around. The membership as usual with most “nice” clubs was spending money in ALL the wrong areas. I like the golf course.

How the woodlands is still open baffles me, but there really isnt any other public golf close by, and wildwood which I also like for what it is seems to be rocking steady I hear, been a few years since I have been out there.

That group backed out of the deal pretty quickly. Still the old ownership I believe.

If he does I will be very surprised

Definitely the right call. Over an inch and a half of rain just yesterday.

If Camden is on your radar and you have an opening let me know…same with Oburg, that front 9 is one of my favorites.

Unfortunately, I fear the new crew is accelerating off the same cliff. (New blacktop paths, prov1 range balls, redone club house. ignoring crumbly greens and zero drainage)

Any Columbia area players have thoughts on Forest Lake Club?

From a golf stand point, price stand point, or social stand point?

Fantastic country club—so many amenities. There is nothing like it even close to Columbia. Golf course is old school–very walkable and fair.

Just joined the Players Club downtown Columbia. Four Full Swing simulators and a putting green like the one Tiger has in his house. Had lunch there today and played Harbour Town. The weather here will get better shortly but I’m going to spend a lot of lunches at this place.

Golf stand point - best golf course in Columbia by about 1,000,000 miles…

Its past is not unlike many clubs in south very shitty. Do they go out of their way to change? who could say.

It’s ok. I would echo @LukeBoatright only with respect to conditioning. It’s well funded, has great locker rooms, clubhouse, etc. I tend to think the course is so-so. There’s nothing really great in Columbia (compared to a Charleston, Greenville or Charlotte), but it’s a fun course that’s well kept.

Thanks for the replies here. I’ve been there once but wasn’t able to play the course that day, was always curious about it considering the age. I believe I have a connection to get on the course, but wasn’t sure if it was worth the trip. I’ll add it to my “someday” list!

I’m in line with @Chippycut. It’s a fine course. I dont think you really need to go out of your way for it. I’d say Cobblestone is a nicer course with more features and much easier to get on.

Going to be interning in Fort Mill for the summer, anybody know about Fort Mill golf club and Springfield? Seems like the only place there that would let me do a membership for just three months.

Fort Mill’s front 9 is a great Ross. Whenever I’m looking to only play 9 holes it’s my go to spot. Back 9 is fine other than the 12th hole par 5 which many of us in Charlotte claim as one of the worst holes around. Don’t let that deter you as overall Ft Mill is a great place to play. Springfield is also very good just a different vibe. It was built prob 20 years ago and is a big residential course. The homes don’t impede on the course. Not as walkable as Ft Mill but always in great shape. I think their membership is a great value and you get Lancaster (another Ross front 9) and Chester as well. If you haven’t played Chester it would be worth checking out on your way to/from Columbia. Give us a shout when you’re up here, plenty of Charlotte Refugees out at Ft Mill.

Anyone made it out to the Charleston Muni recently? This video has me wanting to make the trip up from Bluffton ASAP. Great work @thefriedegg!
