I would just take the day off so pretty flexible with times. Will be able to confirm next week though.
I can make the tee times next Thursday.
I think I should be good for pretty much whatever here
Have two spots available at Aiken GC with @tigergolftraveler and myself. 9AM tomorrow.
Yo everyone. Always forget to check this ever since the whole nest thing went into effect but I live right by the Muni in the Standard Apartments on JI. Play there a good amount so if anyones ever wanting to play let me know. I also have the Tee Time passbook if anyone has that and wants to play as well, or anywhere for that matter.
For people talking about Mid Pines/Pine Needles above, you can find great deals there both November - February as well as during the summer through Tobacco Road. Our friend group goes up every February and then again in the summer and its always under $500 for 2 nights stay and 3 rounds.
Lastly my chipping is atrocious. Anyone have any good recs for lessons around town? My old roommate suggested CCC from his experience but I assume that’ll come pretty steep for a non-member so was hoping someone in here had some good recs.
Ty Gosnell at Rivertowne was helpful for me a few years back when he was an Assistant pro in Chattanooga. I think he primarily focuses on juniors now but you could ask him.
@LukeBoatright @tigergolftraveler beautiful morning for a round!
It rained most of my drive until about 20 minutes from the course.
Ended up being a beautiful day after the blood started pumping.
Weather ended up ok and the golf was bad but we had a great time as we always do!
I really like Brandon Ray at Patriots Point. I’ve done a handful of lessons with him and found it to be really helpful. He is a great guy too. He uses video and the V1 Golf app, so you can re-watch old lessons. His rates are slightly on the expensive side, but I think you get what you pay for. He offers lesson packages. I’ve got a few lessons from the guys at Snee too, but I think you have to be a member
Just chipping in to agree - Brandon Ray’s a great dude. Haven’t taken lessons from him directly, but know people that do and they always speak highly of him.
YO, SC peeps. If I am going to the Hilton Head area, where should I play? Is harbour town even worth it? I kind of think it isn’t but fell free to change my mind.
SNELL!
I think HT is worth it once for sure, depending on the time of year the conditioning is a crap shoot. It really is a pretty great golf course in my humble opinion.
I don’t know all the ins and outs of HHI other than I would try and get on Colleton River. There are others much more well versed in the area than myself.
I’m really asking for my boss (I’m his go to “Where should I play” guy) who is going to be there the last week of April. How are the conditties then?
two weeks removed from the Heritage event so i’d imagine conditions should be good?
Probably the best all year considering the toornament is in April.
Sweet. (I don’t actually follow professional golf but I figured it had to be around that time) Thanks guys
If he can’t get on h town, anyone have other options for him?
@drv4show I feel like this is your wheel house.
Thanks @LukeBoatright.
Two other Sea Pines courses (and a private Sea Pines CC) within Sea Pines. Outside the gates of Sea Pines and on-island public its hit or miss. Hilton Head Plantation has a few courses, Palmetto Hall has two, Indigo Run (two courses), Palmetto Dunes (three), and few others are scattered across the island. Most courses that time of year are in great shape.
Private on-island you have Long Cove and Wexford. The old saying on the island is that Dye made up for his errors at HT while building Long Cove. It’s a very cool place inhabited by real golfers–who play all of the time.
If he’s looking for a signature round off island—Palmetto Bluff May River (Nicklaus design) is very well regarded. Not sure if you can play there wo/staying there.
Off Island private is Moss Creek (Faz), Colleton (Dye & Nicklaus–Dye is very special), Belfair (Faz iirc), Berkeley Hall.
Most of the privates used to work with guests from clubs outside the area.
Also—Haig Point on Dafauskie (Rees Jones) has a stay and play deal right now for potential (cough) home buyers.
Once you get headed towards Beaufort/Oakatie you get Chechessee Creek, Secession, Old Tabby…and several others.
