Roll Call: South Carolina Golfers

Legends might be your best bet. Doesn’t have golf quite the caliber of TB/Caledonia, but still great variety of courses. Such an easy trip too, they’ll take care of you

So I had heard that True Blue was in terrible condition last month, but maybe they will be in better shape by June? Heritage is a good complimentary round to TB and Caledonia in the area and Willbrook as well. Pawleys Plantation just got renovated and is supposed to be a bit friendlier than in the past. I am preferential to Tradition Club as its the course I spent a lot of summers on and is usually in good condition. I personally think it has a good variety of holes but be prepared for shotgun starts, slow rounds, and grumpy rangers.

You are looking at a prime summer vacation spot during high time, so a house that large will be hard to find and likely asking for a week long stay. You could try Litchfield By The Sea rentals as they have the monopoly in that area. Most of the other established neighborhoods in the area have rules that don’t allow for short-term rentals.

Inlet Sports Lodge is worth checking out, it’s affiliated with Caledonia/True Blue, and it’s only about a mile from the Marshwalk, which is a great place to hangout.

Would definitely recommend Pawleys Plantation.

Thanks for the recommendations, always much appreciated! True Blue/Caledonia have a replay discount(you can play within 7 days of each other), so its $234 per person for Friday and Saturday morning rounds. I’m pretty sure we are going to do that. There is one VRBO house in Murrells Inlet that is 5 bedrooms, and looks pretty nice. Otherwise it’s slim pickings for non hotel/condo options

No! No! and FUCK NO!

Hey there - just introducing myself as I ran into a fellow refuge member at Oak Hills (batw? - if not, Todd, sorry for that) in Columbia.

Moved here from Colorado and before that Minnesota, been an NLU fan for a while and looking forward to being in SC for the next few years! Cheers!

Hey Chris, Welcome! One of the admins will be adding you to the Palmetto Golf Society-specific threads, and stuff. PGS: this guy can play.

There are some condos affiliated with and across the street from True Blue. We stayed there nothing fancy, much like Legends. I think we picked up our keys at True Blue

My wife has a work trip in Charleston this week, so I decided to tag along. Arrived Wednesday evening and leaving Saturday morning.

I had a tee times at Caledonia and True Blue Thursday morning (today) and Friday morning, respectively. My tee time at Caledonia was a rain out. They’re closed and probably won’t open back up this afternoon. The volume and intensity of this rain feels personal.

I still have my tee time at True Blue, but I don’t want to play one and not the other. Should I just cancel and play Muni tomorrow instead? Any other suggestions?

Just keep the True Blue round.

Only reason I’d considering swapping is if they’re both cart path only. Would rather walk the Muni and cpo doesn’t seem very fun at TB

I’d lean True Blue, but it depends on if you care about driving ~3 hours round trip(depending where in CHS you are). They are completely different courses. TB has wide fairways, unusual holes, and is really fun. I love the Muni, but its flat and not typically in the greatest condition. It has the template greens that you won’t see at many public courses. The Muni also doesn’t drain super well(although 100x better since the renovation), so it might be pretty soggy after all of this rain

I was just at Oak Hills last weekend. The guy we stayed with for the Masters is a member. Adam Devantier. Not a refuge member, but has the right mentality. You should seek him out.

I think @csquared played with him yesterday, and I split the pot with him. Small world.

Confirmed. He had good things to say about Chris, and to not mention his three 3 putts in public.

I’ll also add to be careful on those cart paths. Try not to die on those rocks.

Yeah, those are weird. Look like something reshaped by earthquake.

My dad and I will be staying in Columbia, SC this weekend as we have tickets to Sundays round of the Masters. I’m looking for some restaurant recommendations for Friday or Saturday night - whatcha got?

Where are you staying?

Downtown I believe. Home2Suites on Pickens

Cola’s
Hendrix
Motor Supply
Bourbon
Pearlz

Lots of good options
