We got upgraded to a suite one time. It was nice but I wouldn’t have paid extra for it.
Aside from Ocean, I’ve played Cougar and Turtle. While they are in great shape, and very beautiful courses, they aren’t the most memorable you will ever play. The bang for your buck is questionable. If I didn’t play them through the Kiawah stay and play deal, I would be really hesitant to pay $$$ for them. If you have any connections to get on Cassique or River, I’d go that route first.
Getting drinks/dinner after your round for sunset at Ocean Course is a must. Freshfields Village has some solid restaurants- Co-op, Cantina 76, Fuji, King St. Grill, the pizza place, etc.
Will add that if you eat any of the restaurants then be sure to make a reservation BEFORE you get there. My wife and I stayed at the Sanctuary last year and almost everything was booked up. We had room service the first night and then were able to get a late afternoon table at the Ryder Cup bar the next day. Of our 3 nights we could only get a reservation at 1 restaurant on our last night. On-site courtesy car/shuttle is very prompt so no need to drive unless you’re going out to Freshfields Village.
Anyone in the upstate have a spot for 1 this weekend? I’m located in Simpsonville, will drive ~45 mins.10ish handicap, would be happy to play with anyone!
I’ll be in Aiken, SC the weekend after the Masters and need some advice on where to play golf at. We’re doing 36 at the Aiken Golf Club on April 19 and also playing 9 at the Chalk Mine that day. Any recommendations for where to play the next day would be much appreciated.
Forest Hills has a golf tournament all weekend so can’t do there. We’ve played the River Club a few years ago and liked it but may try to play another course. Anyone know the shape of the Augusta Muni? I’ve heard they did some renovation on the course but not sure how it is now.
Hats off for 36+9 in a day. Nice to know other sickos are out there getting it done. All the courses will of course be packed so take whatever you can get.
Hey friends, we have a group of 8 going for a quick Father’s Day trip to play some golf in the Myrtle area. We are coming up from Charleston, so will probably play some combo of True Blue/Caledonia and somewhere else. Any recommendations on where to stay? Ideally we would like to grab a house in the Pawleys/Murrells Inlet area, but Airbnb and Vrbo are scant for detached houses. We’d like to avoid townhouses and condos
