Roll Call: South Carolina Golfers

I enjoyed the Links Course at Wild Dunes when I played last June, it was in really good shape. I did not enjoy the Harbor course at all, (definitely bc I played bad but that’s neither here nor there). There is one green on the harbor course that is smaller than a Walmart inflatable swimming pool.

If you are staying at IoP, I would play some combo of Wild Dunes Links, The Muni, Dunes West, or Rivertowne(in that order). I’m not a fan of WD Harbor, or CN. They are both really tight and typically slow rounds. Stono Ferry is a hike from IoP, so I’d probably pass there too. It is probably an hour drive

Wild Dunes Harbor Course is closing in March 2024 for a renovation and won’t reopen until the Fall. They are also lengthening the 18th hole of the Links Course but that course will remain open.

Links>Harbor but you can’t go wrong with either. Funny enough, girlfriend sent me a text this morning asking “Wild dunes golf links or wild dunes resort harbor course” so I’m very suspicious as to what she’s up to

It’s almost like you guys had your own opposite-field event to the Christmas Clash…is there a PGS LIV situation brewing?

Can one of the PGS Refuge mods tag/add @Jaybird and @Tommysw for the PGS group? Thanks.

Welcome. Went ahead and added you to the Roost so you should have access to our little corner. Have a look around and let us know if you have any questions.

Hello South Carolinians, I’m going to Kiawah with the wife in September and she’s promised me at least 2 rounds. Already booked the Ocean course for 1, for the other I was thinking the Charleston Muni? The consensus I’ve found online is the other Kiawah courses aren’t worth the money, correct? Id love to do Ocean twice but that’s probably a little ambitious budget wise.

Congrats on the trip and getting to play OC! It’s incredible, also a fantastic course to walk. Great spot to ask your wife to meet for a drink on the back porch of the clubhouse with sunset, too.
I’d suggest the Muni for sure! It can be tough to get tee times depending on the day and time, but well worth the test!

If you’re playing by yourself a time shouldn’t be too hard to come by at the Muni. If you know when you want to play, I’d say email the shop a few weeks before and tell them. They are usually helpful. Or just tell @smith when you want to play.

The concern I’d have for you is the distance. Kiawah is OUT THERE and most think it’s right down the street from downtown Charleston. Are you guys flying in or driving?

Sounds great, thanks!

Were in Boston so definitely flying. We’re thinking about renting a car because we want to spend a day in Charleston and my wife wants to visit Angel Oak. From what I’ve read Ubers are very difficult if not impossible to get from the resort?

I can’t speak from experience but I would imagine so. I would recommend having your wife drop you off and she spends her time downtown (Muni would be on the way).
