Thanks for the feedback, sounds like it’s worth it! Believe they’ll have some forecaddies, might help with local course knowledge?
Now i just need to find 3 people with “fuck you” money that want to play Old Barnwell in April.

You may be well served to share this in the Masters thread. There’s some ANWA traffic and meet up activity in there typically.
Hello fine South Carolina folks. I have a conundrum that I was wondering if someone could weigh in on. I have a trip coming up to the Aiken area. I have a couple rounds already planned and I have the opportunity to play Palmetto and Old Barnwell. Problem is I don’t think we’ll have enough time to get both in. If you had to choose between the two, which would it be?
Will you ever come back to the area?
Whats your draw to either - type of golf preferred?
Making it back is always a possibility but nothing planned past this trip. The history of Palmetto interests me, Old Barnwell looks incredible also. No real type preferred, but I do love the Strantz type courses.
Edit: I’m really trying to work it to stretch out an extra day so both can happen, I’d hate to miss the opportunity.
Obviously both is the answer if you can.
Palmetto is one of my favorite courses anywhere. It is more understated than OB and is not going to wow you visually like OB will, but it is an awesome golf course.
OB is newer of course and very bouncy with more severe contours. It’s in the top tier of SC courses I’ve played.
Hope that helps flesh it out a bit.
I don’t think you can make a wrong choice.
Same sentiments from me @egledhill
Figured I’ll jump in and start getting #involved, been a nest member since early in the calendar year and an NLU content consumer for many years. From Anderson and play most of my golf at Saluda Valley. Usually a low 90’s high 80s player and disabled, so I’m a proud member of Forward Tee Nation.
Welcome! Went ahead and added you to the roost (hope you don’t mind), but it gets you access to our little corner of the Refuge. We’ve got a strong contingent in the upstate that are always playing.
I want your kind of problems
Its not a terrible problem to have. Update on this. I think were gonna fly in a day early to get them both in.
Modern solutions to modern problems. Love to see it.
Howdy all, looking like we’re gonna be heading down to Charleston for spring break this year. First week of April, I assume it’s gonna be worth lugging my clubs down with me? I know zero about the area.
Public options are the Muni, Links at Stono Ferry, Charleston National, and I’m sure some others.
Might be staying more so in isle of palms, which could put me a hike away from the muni. Those plans could still be a bit in flux though.
RiverTowne, Charleston National, Dunes West & the Links course at Wild Dunes. Those are your best options in Mt. Pleasant.
Stono Ferry was a Top 5 course for you, right?
I moved away from Charleston a couple years ago. How did the renovations to Patriots Point turn out? I know it’s more expensive to play now, but haven’t heard if the course is improved.
Just barely missed
