Hell yeah, swing by Verdae and it’s a trifecta.

@LukeBoatright you recommended some restaurants last time I asked (Rambos, DiPratos, Bourbon on Main) but they all seemed to be closed on Mondays. WTF is with so many places being closed on Mondays in the Columbia area? Got other recs?

Di Vino Rosso (Italian/Steakhouse) is very good and Boku (Ramen Bar/Asian Fusion) has gotten good reviews and both are in the Vista area of Columbia and open on Mondays. Mr Friendlys in the Five Points area is also a reputable option and I believe is open on Monday.

Love both of those types. Last year, we went to R Place in Greenwood as our last restaurant for a “nice” dinner. Ordered the prime rib and it was grey. Not making that mistake again.

Saluda’s in five points is consistently solid as well. DiVino Rosso and Mr. Friendly’s deserve a ditto for @tres_carlos.

Should’ve added a couple casual options as well. I don’t really get out on Monday’s, so no promises they’re open, but The Hangar is great (pizza/pub & brewery), Home Team BBQ is solid, and Il Focolore is a pretty cool little pizza place in Cottontown.

One last nicer place is Terra across the river in West Columbia.

Love all of it, I’ll be doing some recon. Appreciate it!

Do NOT go there. If you’re in greenwood food options are:

  1. Kickers
  2. Montague’s
  3. Mill House
  4. Good Times
  5. TW Boon’s

Hey there SC neighbors. Chiming in from Knoxville, TN. Planning a bachelor trip for my friend in Charleston during June. We are staying on the North side of town, but will do Ubers, DDs, etc in the evenings. We are playing golf up in Pawley’s Island (Caledonia and Pawley’s Plantation; True Blue is sadly aerating). I’ve got a few basic questions I’d love some local knowledge on.

  1. Anywhere better than Pawley’s Plantation I should be looking at? Trying to stay under $100 for the afternoon round.
  2. Night life - looking for everything between pool hall and cocktail bars. We’d love to be able to hear each other speak though. Hard no on “clubs”
  3. Dinner recs - casual dining, nice dinner, etc.

I know these questions or very vague, but any help would be appreciated! TIA!

You’re staying in Charleston and playing in Pawleys? I’d just stay in Pawleys and avoid that back and forth.

Where are you guys staying? I think Lewis BBQ is the best place to take a larger group of visitors. It is a fun spot to hang out and has awesome BBQ. The Hometeam BBQ downtown location is very close to Lewis and has a great outdoor area too. The food at Lewis is much better IMO

For night life, there are tons of bars/restaurant on King Street that are fun for a bachelor party. ACs and Burns Alley are fun dive bars with pool tables. The bars at Folly Beach are great too, but depending on where you are staying it can be a hike

We are staying in North Charleston, looks like a 10-15 minutes north of that Lewis BBQ. I will definitely check out some of those recommendations.

2nd - @bluehose we are only going up to Pawley’s for 1 day (2 rounds). The rest of our time will be spent back in the city, but taking the opportunity to tick Caledonia off the list.

Since you’re in the N. Charleston area, you have your pick of breweries.

Also, Lewis Barbecue just opened up Rancho Lewis, a mexican place and right next to Edmund’s Oast and both are great

Chive Blossom on Pawleys is delightful. Pricey, and don’t judge a book by its cover.

This has been beyond helpful. Thank you everyone. I sent a list of some of these places to the groom and he said “all these places look gas”. So I think we are on the right track!

Have you been back since they re-opened? Their posts on IG make it look really nice.

I am so fucking old.
