Roll Call:Scotland

Your better getting the bus from Dundee - St Andrews they run every 15-30 minutes and there is a bus stop right beside the Eden course as the train stops at Leuchars then a bus need from there bit of a pain.

You can leave your clubs in Links clubhouse beside the New and Jubilee courses they have locker and cost a £1 to leave them overnight if you wish.

The V&A in Dundee is pretty cool to see as is a wander around Brought Ferry plenty pubs and places to eat there for every taste .

Monifieth is a great set up course wise and backs onto Panmure 2 different types of clubs Panmure very old school British stiff upper lip crap , but the course is class.

Enjoy

Thanks for that. I hadn’t thought of bussing to St. Andrews because of the distant railway situation. Especially if the stop is near the courses - I can play in the morning, spend the day in the town, walk the course at twilight, and bus back to Dundee… and my clubs will be waiting at the bus stop!

I’m excited to be in Monifieth/Broughty. Looks like an area with enough places to eat, but not in the hustle, either.

Really excited to be making the connection to Monifieth. Everyone I talked to there couldn’t have been nicer, the fee structure is beyond reasonable, and the course looks perfectly local. I look forward to hanging out, meeting fellow members, and having a real time. Panmure looks great, but I’m not sure I’d want to be a member. Arbroath looks cool, too, but the course is so far outside of town it didn’t work for the way I wanted to structure my trip. Excited to play it, and Montrose as well.

As far as Monifieth goes - if things go well, I plan on coming back every few years and using it as my base. Hopefully bring my wife and son at some point, too.

What about any heathland-style courses in the area which I shouldn’t miss? I’m looking hard at Forfar.

Forfar is lovely wee course well worth the trip there roughly 30 mins on the bus from Dundee as well as Montrose at certain times of the day the train to Aberdeen stops in Broughty Ferry and and 25 minutes to Montrose the course is 5 mins in a taxi and is well worth playing they have a similar set up to Monifieth so well worthwhile making a day of it if you can .

Downfield at the back of Dundee is a parkland course which is great test as is Scotscraig which im sure is in the Carnoustie Country , Scotscraig is in Tayport and the bus drops you right at the course.

Hope this helps

Heard various reports on the conditties and ‘vibe’ at Scotscraig. It’s literally right across the Tay from where I’ll be staying.

Would be interested to hear in what way ?

Heard, on here I think, some issues with the conditioning. I just checked the more recent reviews and it seems as though they’ve bounced back nicely.

I’ll be over for 10 days. That’s 8 or 9 golf days. Even around Dundee/Carnoustie/Tayside, that’s a lot to see! It’s the beautiful thing about coming across for me. So excited - and it’s 10 months out.

They’ve got a new head green keeper and the lads under him have the course getting back to the way it was still a bit to go but given time they will , i wondered as i was a member there for over 20 years until recently.

Its a great place to play golf as everything its relatively close to hand and you’ll love it, the 10 months will fly in if you need anymore info then give me a shout

Chiming back in here to say that I moved to Edinburgh this past weekend. Not getting a car til November so not really mobile, but hoping to explore some local golf clubs ASAP once that gets sorted. Staying in Bruntsfield area til then, so if anyone has any recommendations for food/drinks then send them my way. Also looking to get back involved with football, so any locals or any connections would be huge!

You’ve got a few clubs relatively close to you if you don’t mind a walk/jumping on a bus with your clubs. A mate of mine plays at Prestonfield - I’ve played a couple of times. It’s an okay golf course in reasonable condition, but relatively cheap (as far as I remember) and a good location for the town.

Long shot here…fortunate to secure an Old course time for April 2023 and trying to lock down a North Berwick tee time on the front end of the trip. However, struggling to get ahold of NB as they are understandably swamped with requests. Any NB members that can give me an idea of the tee sheet on the date I’m looking to play? Not looking for any discounts or hookups. Just want to make sure the day I have in mind is feasible so I can book other tee times accordingly. Hi @The_Cad_Says haha

For my Scottish friends I have a question. My daughter took this picture while we were in Edinburgh and we’re trying to identify who the gentleman is. Anyone have an idea?

Might be Adam Smith. Time period is right. And it would make sense to have Smith expounding economic freedom for Scotland I guess.

This is the classic pic of Adams though. Not quite the same.

Hello Scotland Golfers,

I’ve got a solo Scotland golf trip planned for May 20 - 30, 2023. I’m staying in St. Monans and plan to play most of my golf on Fife. I’d love to play a round with some of you if anyone is interested. Some days and courses I’m free and interested in playing are:

Sunday May 21st: Elie (tee times available starting at 15:00)
Wednesday May 24th - Monday May 29th: Elie, Crail, Leven, Lundin, Lundin Ladies, Anstruther

I am going to try my hand at getting a tee time at The Old Course via ballot and the singles line. I’d love to hear any suggestions for what courses you all think I should play, but most of all let me know if anyone wants to play a round! It would be great to meet someone during my time there.

Cheers,

Filly

I can host at Ladybank probably.

Remind me nearer the time and I’ll see if family has planned something stopping.

Hi Guys,
Hope you’re all doing well.
I joined Lundin a couple of years ago but haven’t managed to meet many members (and have an irrational fear of medals and competitions…)
Just wondering if there’s any Lundin members skulking around here who’d be keen for a game sometime?

Cheers!

Thanks Seve. I’ve made a note to reach back out closer to May
