Roll Call:Scotland

Hi, All!

My brother and I will be playing several courses throughout the Fife/Inverness area from June 8-22. Only the Old Course and Kingsbarn on 12 and 13, Castle Stuart and Nairn 19 and 20 are set in stone. We would love to meet up for a round or a pint! Cheers!

I’ll be in Scotland on the back end of this. Happy to get together for a round and/or join forces on the ballot Friday or Saturday, May 26-27

Hey figured I’d cross-post this here, as I previously threw it in the Scotland Trip planning thread.

Ok folks, heading to Scotland in May with my wife and my mom, and figured I should share the itinerary here and welcome any suggestions. Will be there from the 12th - 25th.

Plan is to get there on 12th in evening and head straight to St. Andrews, hopefully with ballot success already known for the wife and I for a round on the 13th. :crossed_fingers: If not I’m hoping the adrenaline and jet lag will get me through the singles queue, which the wife has already tapped out on.

Sunday we’ll head to Inverness area and are staying in Rosemarkie for 4 nights. I’m currently planning on getting an international membership there, as we’ll all 3 be playing there at least once. The fact that they have carts should help my 71-year old mom get out a little more. She typically walks 9 with us in the summer, but has been slowing down some golf wise. She’s still a travel menace in every other aspect of her life, and is bookending this trip with one to Amsterdam the month before and Italy the month after.

This will be our home base for 4 days, and we’ll all golf some there, and I’m really hoping for some twighlight rounds with the wife. During this period I’m also hoping to take advantage of their reciprocal agreement and try and sneak onto either Dornoch and/or Brora while the ladies explore Inverness during the day. I’m hoping as a single I’ll be able to get out on the other courses as the reciprocal agreement only allows for a 48-hour booking window.

After that we’ll head to Isle of Sky on Thursday the 18th for two nights, and then down to Oban for another two nights. Other than maybe playing the little course in Skye this will likely be a non-golf portion of the trip.

Monday the 22nd we’ll head to Edinburgh for 3 nights. I’m looking to get out around Edinburgh on Tuesday and Wednesday the 23rd & 24th while the ladies explore, and would welcome any suggestions, hookups, or other things of that nature.

Tentatively looking at Dunbar and Gullane, or potentially heading up towards Lundin, and Leven. Not sure if I’ll try for 36 hole days or not that late in the trip. Unfortunately sounds like North Berwick is booked even for a single.

We’ve got lodging booked for St. Andrews and Fortrose, but would welcome any Skye, Oban and Edinburgh recommendations. Have got the Anderson in Rosemarkie on the list for pubs.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions and May can’t come soon enough!

Awesome! I’ve already got Ballot Buddies for those two days. Any interest in playing Elie, Lundin, or Leven on those days?

Hey where are you playing on the 24th? I’ll be in Edinburgh and looking for a round the 23rd and 24th.

Unsure right now, I’m playing North Berwick on the 23rd and might be staying the night down there. Would need to get back to Fife on the morning of the 24th. Interested in an afternoon round at Elie, Leven, or Lundin.

Let me know if you need a 4th for NB

I’ve been toying with the idea of heading up towards Leven/Lundin while I’m in Edinburgh, but may just head east both days and hit Gullane and Dunbar as they’re definitely closer.

Can thoroughly recommend a Gullane 2 & 3 day. It’s like Ā£100 with a bit of lunch thrown in. Perfect.

G1 isn’t worth it for the $$$ nowadays. Other two are more fun.

Good to know, might have to make that my last day May 24th if anyone wants to join! Also, was looking for just about any reason to not spend the money on 1, as its significantly more money.

Anyone planning on being in the Inverness area May 15-18? Would be fun to say I hosted someone at Fortrose.

Is this where all of the RACDG Boys should post their schedules for the next few weeks? Does everyone here already understand we are the real sickos on this website? This massive assault on Scotland should settle the question, if there is any. TBH I’m almost a little embarrassed by mine it’s so ridiculous. Maybe we should just keep quiet about it here and stick to the WhatsApp hahahahehehehohoho

PS I was trying to reply to CAD but failed due to an ID10T error so deleted and reposted

To be fair it costs a lot less to be a golf sicko over here than the US. Not to mention access being easier.

But as you asked:

23rd Seaton Carew
24th TBC (maybe Renaissance)
25th Brora & Dornoch
26th Golspie & Dornoch
27th Tain
28th Fortrise & Rosemarkie
29th Dornoch Champs & Struie
30th Dornoch Champs & Struie
31st Nairn
1st Crail
2nd New Course
3rd Castle
4th Jubilee
5th Elie
6th Carnoustie (both courses)

Drive home

It’s about Ā£800 for all that. Accommodation, petrol, food and extras will all be more.

29th Dornoch Struie & Champ courses

Interested in any of those. Will be staying in Edinburgh

Hello all!

Long-time NLU fan but relatively new Nest member checking in from Edinburgh.

I grew up in Dumfries & Galloway (near Southerness), did my undergrad at St Andrews (didn’t appreciate it enough at the time!!) and then spent a number of years working across Europe before coming back to Scotland in 2022.

Still easing myself into the Edinburgh golf scene. Managed to get a handful of rounds last year - Braid Hills, Kingsknowe and Longniddry - but hoping for more in 2023.

Keen to join any meetups, whatsapp groups etc. for organising rounds or socials.

Would also be up for watching the Masters in the pub next week if anyone’s around and fancies it.

Best,

Dougal

Hi everyone, I’ll be getting into Edinburgh this Friday the 26th and am looking for a ballot buddy for the Old for Saturday; I figured this would be a good place to throw this out there if anyone is available/interested
