Do your friends need to play with you? Or can they just book it and you show up? Asking for a friend @jsg_nado
I’ve never tried doing it that way, my guess is that they would not be very happy with that but I have not read the fine print, so not sure.
Greetings everyone… advice request please… So I’d like to ask the San Diego contingent because I feel nostalgically connected to you all. Aztec circa 2006… founding member of the SHOW…
Planning a long trip that starts with a flight into Palm Springs… in order to get to Rams Hill. Please note, I pretty much dislike gimmicky. Houses on courses already kind of turn me off. By all accounts Rams Hill is super special, which is why I’m hitting it up.
The more and more I try and create a reason to play PGA West (Stadium and Mountain)… the more and more I just don’t want to. I like to walk… and it just seems like maybe those spots are not for me.
The trip would take me to Rams Hill, and then via Amtrak, to Oak Quarry, Rustic Canyon, Ojai, Santa Barbara, Ocean Beach, Del Mar, La Jolla, San Diego… then home o Nor Cal.
Finally, do I really need to or want to play the Stadium or Mountain Course. Shouldn’t I just save my money and go nuts on other options. Maybe even slide in Pelican Hill?.. Thank you, and Go Aztecs.
Im in town with my wife this friday- next thursday as she has a conference Monday- Wednesday. I made a tee time at Coronado as a single for Monday 11/8 at 11:30, still one spot available, and one at Goat Hill for 9:30 on 11/9 as a single, still three spots open. Would love to have someone join of you can!
Spots at Goat Hill still open. On another note, anyone eaten at Cori Pastifico? Wife and i flying in today and trying to find a place not too far from out hotel. Looks pretty good from what i can tell
Never been there but Buona Forchetta in South Park, bit South of where you’re looking, is real good if you want Italian. It’s technically closer to your hotel.
Little Italy in downtown also has many Italian spots also closer to your hotel.
Made this for some friends, I think I broke it though because it’s too many places to see at once. You have to scroll to see all the locations on the actual map.
Thanks!
Retweet any Buona rec, the wife and i’s favorite spot in SD. We are actually going to be there tonight haha
Cori Pastifico was really, really, really good. Authentic Sicilian food. Homemade pasta literally melts in your mouth. Vibe was great. Neighborhood place, kids, a dog here and there. Highly recommend.
Coronado was great. Three spots still open at Goat Hill tomorrow. 9:30.
Hitting Buona tonight on your recommendation. 40 minute wait on a Monday is a good sign.
Yessssss
Enjoy.
Anyone know if Torrey raised resident prices or is requiring cart fee now? Online booking shows higher rates than normal…looks like the online price is Green fee + cart…maybe higher honestly not sure.
Anyone played there recently? Can I still walk it at the normal res rate?
https://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/golf/torreypines/reservations/fees
Seems the same so far as I can tell. I know their online prices are buggy and sometimes show incorrect prices.
I’m definitely a resident on the website but I see nonresident prices. This has been a thing for a long time for me. The staff in the shop told me don’t worry about what the price online is, if they see you’re a resident in the system they will charge the correct price when you pay.
Yeah the website is a bit of a mess, the prices don’t update for twilight/res vs non-res and you can currently book one two hours after sunset haha
But the price is always correct at the pro-shop
Thanks guys! Played twilight today, can confirm you are both correct.
North is in really really nice shape right now after overseed. Maybe the nicest I’ve ever seen it honestly. Rough EXTREMELY thick, I’m no grass expert but they are feeding that stuff some steroids to get ready for the farmers.
Rough is always crazy in Nov/Dec. Pros have it easier in January honestly.
What’s up San Diego. Getting off the Amtrak at Oceanside in about 25 minutes to play Goat Hill. If anyone is around, that’d be cool.
Also walking up early at Torrey Pines North tomorrow morning. Also looking to walk on afternoon twilight as well.
It’s just me, so if anyone needs to fill a 4some in the afternoon would love to join. Aztecs class of 2006.
Happy to hear this report!
Going to be in SD for work next week and going to try to play Coronado at ~230ish on Tuesday, 11/30. Lmk if you wanna get involved!
