@JNorwoodFive
It’s possible. It’s more of whether you want to pay the fees associated with reserving tee times in advance. I recommend downloading the San Diego City Golf app and booking through that. You will see an option allowing non-residents to reserve tee time 90 days in advance for a $30 fee.
Yeah I don’t mind coughing it up once since this is a first and I am not sure when/if I would return. I will check out the app. Thanks for the info!
Hey y’all, long time lurker and making a resolution to dive into things headfirst this year.
Native San Diegan that just can’t get enough of the game. Played baseball in college but luckily couldn’t hit a lick so the golf swing has been preserved. Really just looking to get involved this year, meet some new people and play a lot of golf.
Would love to get after it with y’all!
Glad to have you, I shot you a message on instagram and will get you on the whatsapp chat
Unrelated to the prior message.
A friend of mine from high school is playing in the Monday (actually a tuesday) qualifier for the Farmers at Industry Hills. Is there any chance that someone has decent knowledge of the course and would be willing to possibly caddie?
Hes played a bit on the Mackenzie tour. Any takers?
This is up in LA? I might know someone
Greetings fellow Nesticles. I’m from the NorCal Roost, but will be down in San Diego and looking to tee it up on May 6. Right now I’m looking to play Coronado, but knowing that it’s a tough tee time and I can’t book it until 14 days out, I’m tentatively going to go the other way and book a tee time at Maderas as another option.
I’ve previously played both Torrey courses, Encinitas Ranch, Crossings, Mt Woodson, Carlton Oaks and something maybe called Riverwalk. Any obvious courses I’m missing here to play instead of Coronado or Maderas?
More importantly, anyone want to join the round?
Have you done goat hill or arrowwood? I know they are a little north of downtown but also Balboa is underrated as well
I know of Goat Hill and am considering it but unsure. Will look into Arrowhead and Balboa.
I am down for playing and there is a number of us in SD that could join up as well. Balboa could be sick as well as goat but you let me know and I can grab a time.
Hi All - I spent a few years living in San Diego about a decade ago and a few years after that visiting most weekends (while living in LA). With that said, it’s been a little while since I’ve been down there regularly.
I have a good buddy/former co-worker who’s looking to get into the game. I believe he’s played a little here or there years back but not taken the full plunge that he’d like to take now. He’s in his 40s and lives off 15 and 56.
He reached out to me looking for ideas for taking lessons. I don’t know of any good instructors, specifically for beginners, down in San Diego and figured maybe someone in this thread would have some recommendations.
I also suggested once he gets comfortable enough, Sail Ho would be a good place to play a first round.
Sail Ho has rebranded…and is now called the Loma Club. It is different then it was back in the day, a little more trendy and “hipster”, but still very good entry into playing. Lots of non traditional golfers out there. Great place to get started.
I don’t know a lot of instructors. I am sure others can chime in on that.
Yeah that’s right, I knew that and was going to Google it before I finished my post but forgot.
Me and my buddies were all good golfers but more often than not found ourselves at Sail Ho. Fun course, chill atmosphere. Back then it had the wine bar next to the clubhouse, we’d usually hit that up before and after.
Where in SD for golf instructors? Will Kropp at goat hill is great for beginners as he teaches my son and my wife both beginners
Hey yall, I have a tee time at 6:52 am at Coronado this Sunday morning (1/29). Had one spot open up, anyone interested in joining?
Hey gents,
I’m spending this coming week (1/30-2/2) in Carlsbad, and I’m looking for a place to play Wednesday morning. Any suggestions?
I’ve got a tee time at Torrey Pines South on Tuesday morning, so I don’t mind slumming it a little after that.
Check out Goat Hill. Super fun local track. Par 65 but a ton of fun. Greens typically awesome. Worth checking out.
Ton of fun this morning @PonyUp ! You have an unfairly good golf game for starting 2 years ago!
There’s a group chat for SD and L.A. tee times and Roost stuff (don’t need to be a nest member to join the chat) if you are interested.
I thoroughly enjoyed this morning with @PonyUp and @jsg_nado, despite having my best driving day and still looking 40-50 yards ahead each hole! Jordan is 100% regarding how impressive your game is 2 years in, Nick. Have fun @ Bandon with Ashton!
Had a blast playing with you and @seanbaird , would love to join the group chat!
