Roll Call: Pittsburgh and Western PA

I don’t believe so

Whats up Pittsburgh nesters! Lived in Pittsburgh for a long time and was a member at Chartiers but past few years I have been a golf RV journey and played a round in every state in the US. Have become obsessed with seeing and playing new courses. I have done most of the public scene in Pittsburgh when I lived here but hoping to find some connects for Fox Chapel and Oakmont. (or any other private tracks in the area) If anyone knows anyone, shoot me a DM, appreciate it!

I would like it to be known that I too would appreciate an invite to Oakmont

Do you still have connections to some members or your pro at Chartiers?

Ya I know the pro fairly well ya and the member director.

That might be your best chance, then.

I actually get my lessons from the assistant pro at Chartiers. I have yet to beg for a round out there but am thinking about trying to get out this fall when things slow down a bit for them.

Place is so good

Hi Joe! Told Juan you said hi… he had only good things to say about you and Nick.

Good to meet you at Manakiki and at the after party. Please keep me in the loop for Mill Creek. Need to debate whether I’m going since it’s my travel league’s year end championship. But I’m interested!

That’s how Duck Club has WhatsApp setup as well

What’s up Pittsburgh gang, I come seeking a bit of local insight/suggestions. Myself & a few buddies are headed out to Pittsburgh & Morgantown in mid-October to catch a few games. Friday (Pitt) Saturday (Morgantown) Sunday-Monday (Pitt).

Suggestions on general location or specific hotels to stay in Pittsburgh?

Suggestions on a course to play during our drive to or from Morgantown?

Suggestion on a course to play Monday in Pittsburgh before we fly out (any and all private recs or caddie invites for Monday are welcome & encouraged)?

Much appreciated, excited for some midwest hospitality!

Cheers

Is this easily obtainable?

Do you have a club pro who can call for ya?

Nope, but I didn’t see a mention of the other poster having one either so I was curious.

If you’re looking for a course near the airport, Quicksilver Golf Club is probably the best Muni in that area.

If you’re trying to stay near Heinz (yuck “Acrisure”) Stadium then your best bet is to stay probably in the Lawrenceville area. The Tryp hotel is a cool hip spot and lots of bars/food options right there in Lawrenceville and the stadium is straight down 28. Otherwise you’re looking at trying to get in at one of the hotels right in downtown next to the stadium and there are your more “chain” huge bars/tailgater spots. So pick your poison on that. Good option for Uber vs walking IMO…

Blech.

Totteridge and Cranberry Highlands aren’t nearly as close as Quicksilver, but, again, blech.

Totteridge is the completely different direction to the airport, Cranberry if you’ve got the time, sure. Again I prefaced it with “Muni”. Quicksilver is fantastic for the price and how maintained it normally is (and a 15 minute drive if you’re going straight to the airport after). Unless we’re going to hook him up at ACC or somewhere in Sewickley or like Shannopin that’s really his options for getting something in before a flight…
