Roll Call: Pittsburgh and Western PA

Threads would be pretty sweet, having one for people looking to play, off-topic discussions, sports discussions, etc. would be nice

We can do that in WhatsApp now, actually!

I donā€™t know how to do it, but know it can be done.

It basically turns WhatsApp groups into slack channels

Hello midwesterners! Iā€™m heading to Pittsburgh this August, and besides the obvious top 100ā€™s (which I canā€™t get on), Iā€™m wondering if there are any recommendations for golf in the Pittsburgh/Oakmont area?

As far as publics go I always recommend Totteridge, Cranberry Highlands and Quicksilver as the A tier publics. Other solid options are Birdsfoot, Lindenwood, and Madison Club. If you want the strapped experience you can play Bob OConnor which is in the city, just be prepared for a long round and hitting off mats. If you want to drive you can hit Olde Stonewall which is pretty nice and probably the most well conditioned but definitely on the expensive side.

And make sure to check the location on Maps relative to where youā€™re staying. Most of the courses I listed are at least 30 minutes from the city.

If you go to Olde Stonewall you are either going to hate it or love it. No one is in between. Specifically the back nine. Canā€™t deny itā€™s pretty though.

Iā€™m a member at the course literally across the street (Connoquenessing CC). If youā€™re feeling spicy I can host you and then you go across the street for another 18. We can throw a couple nesticles in to fill the foursome at Conny.

The bold are all >> the italicized. Quicksilver kinda stinks.

(I donā€™t know that Iā€™ve seen Lindenwood or Madison Clubā€¦)

Hell. Yes. Excited to hear this, hope itā€™s for great reasons. In the early stages of looking into a match with the Yinzers in eastern OH. Youā€™ll find that thereā€™s good golf just over the state line.

Edit: my bad, I read this as ā€œmoving toā€. Illiterate JC regrets the error.

Iā€™m sorry to disappoint, but I love your enthusiasm.

You have my attention. Iā€™m in the early stages of planning the trip. Is Sunday good for golf? Or Tuesday?

Does conno cc allow unaccompanied guest (public) play at certain times?

Yea sure. Either can probably work. DM me when you know more
