I will slide into his spot if that’s still open!
Sorry for the delay, it’s yours!
Making today my quota at dobson ranch. Handicap for course is 6, plus 2 for the friendship bonus. So 28 is my target.
Great way to start the year with a blast of a round with the boys at Dobson Ranch. @GeneralTSo and I played a match wagering three points. I came away with a 2&1 victory.
Perfect way to start off the year, absolutely delightful morning with @Jpop942, @GeneralTSo , and @chearnen13. Perfect weather, good vibes, couldn’t have asked for a nicer morning.
Cade and I played a match which we wagered 3 points on. I won 2 up. It was also my quota round for January, as stated above my quota was 28, I scored 31 points (2 birds, 9 pars, 5 bogeys, and 2 doubles), so +3 total for my quota, then whatever winning the match gets me points wise.
Thanks gents for a great day! Happy New Year to everyone!
Thanks boys, great time indeed!
Made it to GCU this morning. Loved it. If I can make one complaint I played out of three bunkers today. 2 greenside one fairway. One greenside played firm and heavy sand which I love, the other greenside was soft deep fluffy sand. Pet peeve of mine is bunkers of varying consistency on the same course but really that’s me being a whiner.
I thought greens were in amazing shape considering the traffic and being dormant. I over read everything on the first few holes but on the back 9 made a miles worth of putts to come home in 37. (Disclaimer partner wanted to play whites and I went with the flow but didn’t realize how short they were but just stuck with it and had a good time. That was a 77 with an asterisk for sure)
Really enjoyed the updated layout and staff was awesome. Was it a $120 course for a non resident? Definitely not but would I pay it again? Probably. Played the first tee time with a walking single who was great company. 3 hrs and we were shaking hands on 18. Looked like a busy day behind us though.
Speaking of GCU…
Just booked a foursome there next Sunday, January 14th, at 11:38. @Waffles has claimed the first spot so two more up for grabs Would love to fill it out with Refugees.
Tentatively in, should be able to confirm later this week, but if someone is 100% in they can take the spot
Can’t join on Sunday, but planning on playing midday Monday the 15th. Currently have a foursome at Cave Creek at 11:36 booked with 3 open spots, but down to play somewhere else to join some others.
Hi @Jpop942. I am new to the Refuge so I’m not sure how this all works. I’d like join next Sunday if a spot is still available.
Hey Celia, happy to have you join! Typically I just go based on first people to respond so the spot it all yours! Welcome to the Refuge and looking forward to playing with you next Sunday.
Great! See you then
Confirmed in for Sunday. Hopefully no frost delay issues.
Is anyone a part of the Talking Stick Player Development Program? If so, I am very curious about your experience and if you would recommend it.
I have been practicing at Raven with their Arcis Prime membership but the monthly dues have increased nearly 60% in the last 15 months and I’m getting priced out a bit in relation to the value I get out of it. I live closer to Talking Stick now where it would be a consideration if the PDP is solid. If not PDP, I am open to any other programs or membership type deals people use here. Thanks!
Anyone have any recs on the restaurants at Talking Stick or the vibe of the place in general? Staying near there this weekend, kicking around dinner and watching games there one night.
I was a member of it in 2020 when it was $50 per month and it was an awesome deal. 2 full bags of balls whenever you want and decent tee time deals in the summer. Now that it’s $100 that seems a little steep considering you have basically no chance of booking a round at the PDP rate outside of the summer. YMMV
A fair assessment. It is seasonal pricing (I think it’s $50/month in the summer) and I would be more interested in the range part of it anyway. For example, with Arcis Prime I probably only played two rounds at their courses over the two years but went to the range 3-4 days a week.
Hello thread. My work recently rolled out a Travel and Work together fund that basically is a $1,500 a year stipend to do whatever you want with as long as you and coworkers are traveling and working together. We are primarily a virtual company, so the thought there is this stipend gets folk interacting in person with each other again.
Myself and 11 other golfing colleagues are looking to do a trip to AZ in April. Anyone have any good recommendations on places we should check out / stay or anyone know anyone who offers a large AirBnB or an in at one of the resorts? Probably looking at coming in for 3 days, 2 nights, knocking out 72 holes then getting back to our families.
A few of us will likely stay through the weekend. Thus far majority of the places I’ve reached out to haven’t contacted me back.
