Roll call: Phoenix/Scottsdale

That’s one thing I didn’t think of. All of my walking rounds since moving here have been in the Winter/Spring…

I used to be able to walk in the summer with little difficulty. Getting older has changed that.

I’m sure it also makes a difference that when I was younger if I felt like hell after walking a summer 18 I could just go crash. Now, with kids and wife at home I want to have energy to actually do stuff in the evening.

But GCU has plenty of shade and it’s as flat and walker friendly as they come.

Will be a game time decision personally

If it was 0700 or earlier, I’d be walking for sure

Knowing it’s not, and likely due to be slow, there’s a strong chance I just ride

EDIT: I have the 12th spot filled

Also a good call. Think I’m gonna ride.

Standard set of tees? Or free to choose if you want to move up or back since it’s based off course handicap?

Believe we agreed that you play the tees you want. Calculate your course handicap (and thus, quota) based on those tees.

Got an email from Grayhawk just now confirming that spectators are allowed (and free!) at the NCAAs. Some on site (sort of) parking just east of Raptor. Overflow parking south of the 101.

Masks required, other Covid protocols may be in place as well?

There are a few “cooling stations” (not really sure what that entails? water? shade?) out on the course, but only concessions are at the clubhouse. Looking forward to going out there.

Forgot when looking at the map about the 15/16 re-route from a few years ago. That still sucks.

This being the most important part

Calculate your CH fairly, but play any tees you want

What is the formula for the quota?

Anyone want to get their teeth kicked in and play from the tips with me tomorrow?

36 minus CH = your quota

Thanks!

Yes, @matthew823 and I do

(ha ha)

I’ve never been there, 7,300 seems like a lot…

36 - course handicap = quota

So I am currently a 3.9. If I play the Black (that’s not all the way back, those are purple, sorry @astrodupes) that’s a Course Handicap of 5. My quota will be 31.

FYI. They sometimes don’t even put the purples out.

Have fun back there. Purple tee at #1 is a 50 yard walk back to play a 500 yard opening par 4 with Indian School Road all down the left side.

I would imagine Saturdays would be a time they don’t. Why encourage people?

That’s my guess. Don’t tempt anyone. Keep the pace moving. And alot them are really tucked away so leads a lot of hitting over paths etc.

They’re meant to be the college/tournament tees and not really anything else.

Let’s do it. Buys me 4 less points on my quota haha.
