Roll call: Phoenix/Scottsdale

He’s in for the round for sure, just dragging his feet on #gettinginvolved

Dale is definitely in for 5/15. I’ll get on him again about quota and refuge signup. Especially since it looks like the Longbow day is filling up so I’m going to need to get out there on my own sometime.

Does anyone know the spectator/ticket lowdown on the NCAA championship this month? I tried to look around for tickets but didn’t see anything, but did see an article saying 50% capacity on outdoor events. Was anyone else thinking of going?

Thinking about it as well.

I also looked around and couldn’t find any info. I asked Grayhawk, just via a message on an Instagram post where they’ve been promoting the NCAAs, and they did say that fans will be allowed, but no further info (not surprising in an insta comment).

I’d kinda like to go out there for the first match play day (when they do quarters and semis). I think that’s a Tuesday (for men and women). Kind of an awkward day to go but seems like it would maximize having a decent amount of players out there with still getting to see match play.

Speaking of Grayhawk has anyone tried walking or push carting there before? I was contemplating paying the ridiculous price to play Raptor because I thought it would be great to play the course before watching the championship, but it’s cart path only right now.

I haven’t. I’d be surprised if they allow it. Just doesn’t seem like that’s the vibe there.

Certainly would be walkable, as it’s pretty flat. A few roads crossings but nothing extreme.

I don’t know if you’ve ever played Raptor but in my experience Grayhawk is usually in pretty good condition all year round. Hard to say that either course is really worth what their fees are these days (even the summer rates IMO), but my recommendation would be to wait until after the tournament and at least get the true summer rates to play. You do you, but CPO and and $200+ for Raptor is … tough.

In a few weeks you can probably get the Dirty Dozen deal for less than what two rounds would cost right now.

Yeah logic definitely says to wait it out since the price is crazy, but I also thought it may be worth the extra amount to have that connection right before the tournament as I’ve never played it before. I’ll probably hold off since it does add up to 10 twilight rounds at Raven for me haha.

I remember when I was new in town and walked up to practice, just thinking I could get a bag of balls and putt for a bit…looked at me like I had 2 heads because I didn’t have a tee time

As for NCAAs, I have a contact I’m going to reach out to here, and she if she has an insight or insider info

I can check into locking up another time slot, as of now both the 7:20 and 8:00a times are open. Are you guys interested?

I’d say do it, when it gets down to the last few days, we can open it up to non-quota Refugees or other outside golf buds…think we can get 'em filled

I am still uncertain about my availability that weekend; we usually head north for a weekend around the end of school but like to miss the holidays since they’re busier, so that first weekend of June is a likely candidate for me to be out of town. As for Dale, he hasn’t yet responded as to whether he’s going to join the quota game, so I don’t know.

But I agree with @pushdraw, can’t hurt to do it if they have a generous cancellation policy.

Added the 8:00a tee time for June 6th, just let me know if you and/or Dale can make it!

Any shot anyone is free during the week 10-14? Flying down from near Chicago and would like to fit in some golf around work.

10-14, like now? Or in June?

Hey Scottsdale friends, I’m working on planning my brother’s bachelor party and we’re looking at late October in Scottsdale. He wants to play golf however there’s 10 of us going and only 4 of us actually play golf so I’m looking for a course where even the people who don’t regularly play will still be able to have fun. Hell, a pitch and putt would be a blast if there is one. Do y’all have any recommendations?

Mountain Shadows fits the bill, if it is open. Wonderful 18-hole par 3 course, not far at all from Old Town Scottsdale.

Only issue is your timing. Late October is still overseed season. I’m guessing your gang won’t care if the greens are shaggy from a recently re-opened course but some courses are still closed (courses close anywhere from mid September to early November and are usually down 2-3 weeks).

I don’t think there are any reliable overseed schedules out yet, but you could call a course and ask if they have an idea if you’re looking to make plans.

Yeah, that is Mountain Shadows for sure, and to @matthew823’s point I believe they’re usually closed the first 2 weeks of October

Another idea is Talking Stick area…you’ve got Top Golf, 36 holes, pool, and casino…seems like the group may stick together though and Shadows is the ticket

I’d be down to join on the 6th at longbrow. I need to add my info to the quota sheet as well. Still need to figure out a make up time for GCU.
