I know we have something tentatively scheduled for that weekend already, but the wife and kids would probably be thrilled if I played on a weekday instead of the weekend, so I’m in to take our match to either Friday or Monday if that works for you.

TBF they are much less commitment if you lose in the second round, than if you go all the way to the final …

Not to immediately come in and rain on this parade, but are we sure rounds are transferable? If so, this is a brilliant idea. Even if not transferable, as long as one person can use all 6 at the same time and everyone else can just pay that person directly.

Summer idea(s):
Would there be interest in like a summer-long “Ryder Cup”?
We look to get 12 or 16 guys (24 seems like as stretch) and do a once monthly weekend round that is a different format at a different course, and then wrap it up with singles
Biggest “catch” would be trying to line up 12/16/24 schedules to be at the same course once a month, and I have no idea what demand is going to look like this summer (when it comes to tee time availability)

Just called over there, they WILL be doing the summer six-pack again per Tim…they do not know when they will announce it / start it though…which is odd, but at least we know
I love this idea. And I usually only play 18 once a month anyways. I’ve got a two year old so the weekend is the wife’s break time too. If it’s going to be in the summer then we could play some nicer courses which you can usually book more in advance.
This could give everyone a month to plan if you could get a few tee times 3-4 weeks out. This way if somebody already has prior engagements they could be taken off of the list for that weekend or have to find a replacement, or something along those lines

I’m sure there’s interest, just the odds of schedules working out, and last minute cancellations most likely make this not probable.
Half baked idea:
Maybe some sort of summer long stableford/quota league where you try and get as many points as possible and divide by the number of rounds you play. Have to play a min of 4 or 6 rounds, and each round has to be played with another refugee to count? Keep a running standing google doc, that way you know how far ahead or behind you are if you want to try and play as many rounds as needed?

Yep, RC might not be practical as it would be strange to draft “teams” and then possibly have to find replacements or work it out…I like the half-baked idea…
Even if we just name a course for the month, and you have the full month to get out there and play…just say “OK, June is Papago from the tips” – would just need to make sure everybody knows how to play / score Quota and it should be fine
Monthly course rota seems better than just some # of rounds anywhere IMO

I like the RC idea but I think to make it work it would need to be one day things not a summer long series (due to the scheduling issues mentioned). I’m just all in favor of more fun formats, whatever form that takes.

Yep, my only concern is (and only speaking for myself) I don’t think I’ve ever had an ounce of desire to play 36 or hell even 19 holes during the summer…so an all-day RC event sounds scary

Extremely valid point. Maybe the RC part can be the culminating event of the summer and we’ll all just have to suck it up for one day haha.

I am already DEEP in the sun sleeves + bucket hat combo…next is the watered down neck-gaiter…after that I just bitch about how much cooler it is in the shade and try to survive and advance

I could be down for a Flagstaff day. It’s only about a 40 min longer drive for me haha. Or the temps are a tad bit cooler at Wickenburg Ranch. They have the Big Wick 18 hole and 9 hole Lil Wick.
