Hi Everyone - New Nest member here. I live near downtown Orlando. I see some past posts about joining the roost… does that just mean adding your name to the spreadsheet for a given event?

Heading down to Disney the week of June 20th. Driving down from Chicago so I will have my clubs and would love to get away from Disneyworld to play some golf!

I have heard great things about Winter Park so will probably play that. Open to any suggestions or if anyone wants to join me for a weekday round!

This one’s to the Orlando fellas who play golf more than I do…

What courses on the west side of Orlando are the best tracks? I have a friend who recently moved to Tampa and wants to play with me and another Orlando guy. He’s single with no kids, and we aren’t. So he said he’d drive more than halfway.

Courses like Ridgewood Lakes, Southern Dunes, Orange Lake, Providence, etc.?

Any good ones around that area whether I mentioned them above or not?

That’s the one. Ridgewood is trash, Providence stinks, Orange Lake isn’t bad. The Dunes for sure.

Morning all, heading to Orlando this week for family vacation (wife is flying down seperately on Saturday night). Looking to take my 15 year old out for golf all day on Saturday. What is in good shape right now in the Orlando area? Don’t mind driving a bit. We were able to snag a tee time at Streamsong Black on Friday, so that was a plus. Have a tee time at Celebration for Saturday but they called and said that they are aerating this week, so would like to find something else.

Southern Dunes would be a good option. WP9 is always fun as well, but can be a hassle to get a good weekend tee time.

If you’re looking to do 36 then Disney or Orange County National might be good options since they have multiple courses. All the courses in town are starting to aerate this time of year so you’ll want to call ahead wherever you decide on. Dubsdread and Eagle Creek are my go-to public courses aside from WP9 but both have recently punched.

Dubs punched on 6/6, and the greens weren’t all that bad when I was out there last week. I’m playing there this weekend, and I’m not concerned. Maybe just a little sand left but shouldn’t impact play.

If I were coming in from out of town, though, I wouldn’t go out of my way to play any course with that disclaimer if there were other viable options.

Ah nice! The Splash of OJ Roost is working on getting a fall event at Dubs. There will be a season long match play tournament happening too, lots of Orlando folks getting in on it for the central region. You should sign up and #getinvolved!

Looks like a few holes on Disney Magnolia are getting renovated. Looks pretty legit.

Have 2 spots open at Royal St. Cloud this Sunday 7/3 @ 8:45a

My favorite course I’ve played in the area so far

Anyone with thoughts on the Waldorf Astoria course at Bonnet Creek? I have a work conference there in late September, and it appears that it is down to 9 holes for now, so wondering if anyone knows what is going on with the 9 that remain. While not ideal, 9 holes on property might not be terrible in terms of my available time. I also might be able to sneak out somewhere else close by - Falcon’s Fire is close, as are the Disney courses and Grand Cypress. What would y’all choose if you could only play once in that vicinity.

That’s the one.

And stay far away from Falcon’s Fire.
