Roll Call: Omaha/Lincoln

Iron horse is fine unless you are a woman or a decent human being.

Rumors regarding Willow Lakes going military only have proved untrue and it’s still open to the public like it was the last few years.

Additionally, say what you will about the layout, but Tregaron for $14 walking today (online booking but no coupon or deal) pretty much has to be in the top 10 conditioned courses in the US for under $15.

The Willow rumors were true for a time. They need local courses to sign a waiver for public play. Tregaron was dragging its feet but eventually signed.

Tregaron also needs to have a bomb dropped on it, so…

Agree w folks in regards to playing Wild Horse. I think Prairie Club is also a can’t miss. It is about 2 hours North of the I80 corridor but totally worth it. If you head north from North Platte, you’ll see the Sand Hills sign and see the turn off for Dismal River.

The drive between Mullen and Valentine is unreal. It’s sand hills and not much else. Very isolated but incredibly beautiful.

Prairie Club and Fredericks Peak in Valentine are great. Dunes course at PC is really something special.

As of now I’m scheduled to play Wild Horse and hoping I’ll get in a second 18 there. Prairie Club will have to wait for another time.

You don’t like driving the ball down corridors of bland Sarpy County housing developments? Interesting.

The holes themselves aren’t terribly offense other than 13, I just unfortunately have multiple poor experience with their staff and try my best not to give them any of my money.

Hi guys. Long time NLU listener, but new to the refuge. I’ve lived in Omaha for the last six years. I’m a 1.1 handicap in my mid 20s, but as my username suggests the game isn’t quite what it used to be. I live in the Old Market area which doesn’t have a ton of courses in the immediate vicinity so I play all over town. This seems like a pretty great community, I’d love to get to meet and play with some of y’all.

Wow…young, living in the Old Market, low single digits…I hate you but I also want your life, brother.

All kidding aside, welcome aboard!

Anyone know if you can get an outdoor fitting in Omaha or Lincoln somewhere now that the weather has turned? Also know of any locals that do regrips? Golf Galaxy was fine for my one shaft replacement but would like to support a small business or local refuge member if possible.

Will always shoutout Golf USA. Small shop, does awesome work for a good price. They don’t do outdoor fittings, but Jason Gomez has fit me for my whole bag. They’ll take care of you.

Also +1 to Jason at Golf USA, won’t find anyone better in Omaha.

I’m not aware of anywhere that will do a multi-brand outdoor fitting. Several courses / pros will fit you outdoors if say you’re looking for Titleist wedges.

Playing Landmand in a couple weeks. What’re some walkablility comparisons?

I walked it as well (push cart) and it was an absolute grind but I wouldn’t do it any different. It was so sick to trek those slopes and shapes of the course. I found it very similar to walking Erin Hills. I didn’t take a caddie at EH, carried the Ping Moonlite for all 18 holes in 30 mph winds, it was sick!

Hey everyone! I am coming in with my Wife, 5 year old, and Parents for the first weekend of the CWS. We are staying just south of Little Italy near Dahlman Park. Any dining recommendations? Thank you for any thoughts!!

Your favorite desert course, not a lick of shade anywhere to be found. I’d be watching the weather forecast pretty close, it could be a very hot day.
