Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

Absolutely unacceptable. Seems like a stern talking to is warranted…

Man it sounds like everyone lives in Lake County, meanwhile I’m slumming it up in Cuyahoga. Granted, this could mean a refuge meetup at manakiki or fowler’s mill.

Once he’s not quite so attached to that Ravens lanyard, I’m going to make it disappear.

I can’t force him to be a Browns fan. But I won’t actively support him becoming a Ravens fan.

You absolutely can and should force him to be a Browns fan. But I think the inception/Machiavellian manipulation approach is probably more likely to sink in than a direct challenge to his Ravens-curiosity. Just my two cents.

I’ve said this before, but being a Browns fan is like being a coal miner: nobody really chooses this life unless they’re born to it.

I did meet a family at his preschool that are Browns fans. They aren’t from Ohio. I still don’t understand why they would choose the Browns.

Weird. Volunteering for the black lung of football fandom is very odd.

I’m definitely getting my boys some Browns and Indians swag when I’m back in Ohio in two weeks. Once he seems something new, that Ravens junk is out of the house!

Wow @JohnnyPanton, first you get robbed in WWTBAM and then your son has Ravens gear. Sounds like a tough week my friend

I think we should have a Refuge meetup at Sand Ridge soon (before my kid arrives in mid/late August)…

Yeah man I’d love to. I’ve heard all about that course since I’ve moved here and it would be awesome to play.

I’m game for a Sand Ridge meetup.

League plays at Little Mountain during the week. Will go anywhere for a round on the weekend.
Manikiki is just down the road from me.
Fowler’s is always in good shape.
Need to get out to Valley of the Eagles this year to see how its growing in.

Whether its Browns, Ravens, or Bengals (Who Dey) I think we all can agree that the Steelers suck

I had something cancel, so I’m officially throwing it out there: First thing Friday July 5th. Sand Ridge Golf Club. I have to be done by 1 for another round at 130p.

If you’re interested, we’d need to start by 830a, it’s $135 for the round plus cart or caddie (yeah I know, kinda steep, but I ain’t that rich lol, just a guy who loves golf and wants to share access to good courses). There are always breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and breakfast cocktails available as well.

Just let me know if you can make that work. If not, we can try some other time.

This is a great offer, let me get back to you Monday (I would have to take work off to do it so I can’t confirm until asking my boss on Monday, also feel free to give it away if some else can confirm before then).

On a related note I’m a member at Lakewood Country Club (in Westlake confusingly enough) so hopefully we can get a little home and home action going. I feel like I should mention I’m not that good but I always have a birdie in fun.

I’ve been to Lakewood CC for the old Cleveland Open but I’ve never played it. A home and home would be fun.

And I don’t really care about playing too fast or people flubbing or anything competitive at all. I fell in love with the game playing with my wife, and we usually would play extra shots, have some drinks, and basically have a date night out on the course. Plus my game is wayyy out of whack at the moment. So yeah I just like being paired up with cool people and relaxing out there.

That’s all it really should be anyway right? None of us are making millions and we all want to play good but don’t/can’t practice enough. I played 9 with my wife the other day while we were chasing our twin two year old boys around. At the end of 9 I realized I shot my lowest score in two summers and was shocked. It’s amazing what happens when you just let yourself have fun.
