I have gotten many double bogeys on this hole, I hate it. I also have gotten an eagle on it so that makes me feel slightly conflicted about it.
It can be such a round flipper tho. I wish they would take more trees out but it’s greatly improved even with what they have taken out.
Oh definitely, doesn’t stop me from line driving it into the hill side
Mannnnn getting back out there today was absolute therapy. Shoutout to @ZekeH5 and @SRS_One for the company.
Congrats on the fairway hit! I know that’s been a big goal of yours for a while.
Got too aggressive on my second shot. Made double.
Does anyone have any experience using the penn-ohio golf trail? Trying to put together an easy golf trip not too far from Columbus for a long weekend. I don’t know the Youngstown area at all, so I don’t know if these courses are any good or if the trip is worth looking in to. The Mansions they have available for lodging interested me. Looking for any information you may have. Thanks.
How’s everyone doing?
Following this for responses as well as the planner of our group’s annual trip.
I can’t say enough good things about the Penn-Ohio golf trail. I’ve been leading a trip of 8 guys for the last 4 years using them. The people who set things up for you are great. I’ve stayed in two of the mansions and have played about 20-25 of the courses they offer. There are some courses that aren’t worth having on your itinerary, but some absolute gems. If you are strategic about which courses you play (and on which days), it’s a fantastic value. They have a “base price” per day and depending on what your lodging situation is. About half the courses are “included” in this price and the other half require an upcharge that varies by course (anywhere from $20-125).
If you have specific questions I’m happy to help in the DMs. I’m afraid to sing their praises too much for fear that they will become too popular and raise their prices.
First winter was fine. Second winter sucks.
Headed to Cleveland this Sunday through Tuesday, staying at the Crowne Plaza. Planning on hitting several museums and lots of pool time at the hotel, but does anyone have any recommendations for family stuff to do, places to eat, etc., that we shouldn’t miss? All of my previous trips to Cleveland have been for the MAC tournament as a grad assistant, so I didn’t exactly get to experience much of the city outside of the Renaissance, the mall, and the arena.
What kind of food do yall like? I would definitely recommend getting Mitchels ice cream.
I’m not a Cleveland native by any stretch but if you haven’t been there, seeing the Arcade downtown is awesome if you’re into architecture. Paging @brick and @flanwilder @joecline41
If you’re gonna be downtown-ish, Noble Beast brewing is, imo, the best brewery in the city and has incredible food too. Family friendly. As is Masthead Brewing, who has an even bigger space and does great brick oven pizzas. Would also recommend Mabel’s BBQ, owned by Michael Symon, if you’re in the mood for that (don’t sleep on the turkey).
What’s the family situation? Kids tagging along? Ages?
If you have kids the science center is pretty great and if they’re younger the Children’s Museum is a lot of fun. Can’t go wrong with Natural History Museum as well. Never been there but this place is about 25min from downtown and is supposedly a lot of fun Play: CLE | Avon OH
Since you’re planning to go to the museums in university circle, I would make sure to go to Presti’s bakery if it’s earlier in the day and try to do dinner if you’re there in the evening. Little Italy is great and littered with good restaurants right next to all the museums.
Co-sign Presti’s. My favorite is the lemon bar, but all of their baked goods are great
@ThuggishJingoism24 given their own choice? Ice cream and mac 'n cheese, lol. We make them eat whatever we eat, though, so they eat everything.
@jgolf1 I don’t totally remember it, but the pictures of the Arcade look vaguely familiar, so I’ve probably been there. Looks to be within walking distance of the hotel and perfect for getting the kids out and walking around.
Conley76 Masthead and Mabel’s both within walking distance, I like those options!
flanwilder I think those are the exact museums we have planned. My wife is in charge of that part. Kids are 4 and 7 this summer. Not old enough to care about much, but to enjoy just running around still.
Jet1329, nohio Good call. Big fan of bakeries, and things to do near the museums while we are out is huge.
Good stuff everyone, thanks!
You forgot about fighting preferences.
Our art museum is solid. My daughter loves going for pizza in Little Italy after we go there. I think the zoo is free on Mondays and it’s good. Going to be chilly, but still a good time if everyone bundles up. The Winking Lizard at st. Clair and East 9th is a good downtown spot for families to eat.
Posted this after others —basically second everything that was suggested as well.
