Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

I realize that my friend had won the Wildwood round in a charity auction. My bad.

Jealous of that.

That was our home course of Miami-Middletown. I really did not take advantage of that perk like I should have. That course is a hidden gem. Some straight up boring holes out there, but then there are some just absolute bangers. Two short 4s that are some of the best in the area.

Just got word that #5 and #6 have been underwater for a week at CiC.
They are adjusting the qualifier to be 1-4, 7-18, then 1-2 to complete 18 holes…

Newbie here introducing myself - my name is Corey, 35 y/o, lifelong Cincinnati resident. Picked golf back up this summer after several years away from the game and am falling back in more than ever. I live just down the road from Reeves and have been spending a lot of time on their par 3 and range trying to get back into the swing of things.

Looking forward to contributing to this group and the Nest!

EDIT: It’s apparently sold out. Damnit.

A lot of 2nd Swing logo’d clothing are one-offs. Someone else (hopefully from here) must have purchased the one they had since I posted it.

Probably should have mentioned they have other pieces from Sleepy too, just not at that low of a price point. That APPREL50 code will knock 50% off, so about $24-$28 for other polos and q-zips in different sizes. just have to look/filter through the site a bit. Here’s a couple;

Question for the group…

It’s my birthday on Sunday and it’s been a shitty, shitty year for your guy so I’m looking for somewhere to play within say 90 minutes of Columbus. This isn’t me looking for a club invite – I’m talking Bamberger public golf, here.

Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Whatever you do, don’t say Virtues or I might challenge you to a duel.

Is Stonelick in your window?

Snow hill is a nice gem.

I really like Windy Knoll

Stonelick is an hour 45 from my house so right on the edge. I have it on the list.

What about Belterra? I know Faz gets some shit around here, but I found it to be a pretty fun course and not in the normal suggested courses in SW Ohio.

It might be slightly over your distance goal, but is likely close to same distance as Stonelick depending on where you’re coming from in Columbus area.

How about Liberty Hills in bellefontaine, if you’ve never played there before? Solidly challenging course you can, and should, play from the tips. Reasonably priced, nice clubhouse with food and beverage operated by a great local beer bar/pub, and definitely more fun to play before the leaves start falling.

have you been to either of these or Windy Knoll this year? Hope they can all continue functioning. They all bring their own strengths to the table. My dad frequents all of them but I have only been to Windy Knoll back in May.

Heatherwoode? Outside Centerville?

Played a Match Play round at Reid this year and it was in stellar shape. Definitely would continue to recommend it.

I’m probably not telling you anything you don’t already know, but this is a nice little Donal Ross course tucked away in SE Ohio.

Positives: Good course. Fun layout. Very walkable. Priced very well. 10 minute drive to “downtown” Portsmouth and they have some decent food options. Patties and Pints ain’t bad.

Negatives: it’s in the middle of nowhere. Tee times are tough to get, sometimes.
