Must have kicked out a bunch of high scores from your 20 score window. Playing good isn’t enough to drop it that fast, but playing really well and also booting a couple of mid-80 rounds will do it. Gonna be soft capped in reverse, if that’s even a thing.
Oh it’s recent low scores.
I hadn’t broken 81 all season and then the last 5 rounds I went.
76 (tied career low at the time)
85
79 (absolute atrocious putting)
87
75 (new career low)
So those 3 scores are what did it. The stuff that dropped off weren’t doing much either way.

it’s actually worse the opposite - when you shoot a score that’s significantly below your HC, the system lowers the differential even more to drag your HC further downward.
Exceptional scores are to be avoided at all costs. Especially in competition!
Got a 930 on Sunday 7/17 with @andrewf at Boulder Creek if anyone wants to fill those other two spots. Let’s show the SCGC how OATW gets down.

Fortunately none of them were competition scores. Also, fortunate that I’m going to Pinehurst where I’ll post 8 scores in 5 days to hopefully start working on getting these low ones out! 
Hey guys - just moved to Columbus from Charlotte, but originally from Iowa. I see there’s a Whatapp group for Cincy, anything for Columbus area to get out and play with some of you guys? Also willing to drive a bit to play as well.
Look forward to checking out Columbus area. My wife got a job at OSU and we are just renting an apt for a year in Grove City until we decide if we’re going to stick around. Any recommendations for golf or otherwise would be welcomed!

Welcome! I really enjoy Mentel Memorial which should be close to you. Others nearby that should be decent (I haven’t been to most of these this year) are Players Club at Foxfire, Links at Groveport, Raymond Memorial, and others.

Thanks for the info - Seems like there’s a few options near Grove City, but most are in other suburbs. Surprised too there’s no real range around this area and looks like in the winter will have to travel to Dublin or somewhere for some simulators. Maybe I’m missing something? In Charlotte I had a range within 10 minutes that I went to weekly to get out of the house as I work remote. But I have enjoyed the convenience of everything in GC.
You and @Livi from his comment above will have to let me know if you have some room in your group when you guys play. I’m always down to get out and pretty flexible. I’m decent company, just ask me.
Welcome to Columbus! I’m in Obetz and work my way around the public courses. Can second the Links at Groveport mention (as long as it isn’t flooded). I’m also a big fan of Blacklick Woods and Champions.
Columbus people - Got Sunday 3 PM @ Blacklick with @ZekeH5 and I with two more sports open. Should be plenty of time after the Open.
I don’t know if we can do any run up shots on this parkland style course but god dammit we will try!

Welcome, I’m in Columbus as well, most of the guys have hit on the top public options, I’ll also throw in Mill Creek and Denison if you’re willing to drive a bit.
We also have a nest event out at Denison at the end of the month, great opportunity to get out and meet the crew.

Looks like a pretty wild layout out there. I’m seeing back to back par 3s on 7 and 8. Par 72 (35-37).
The decimation continued last night. I shot 39 with a double (hit my driver OB by a foot) on the easiest hole last night. That score combined with another 39 I had waiting. I got down to a 6.5 two years ago in the middle of summer so this isn’t unprecedented but it is still surprising.
