Heading up to Chagrin Falls for the weekend. Anyone looking for a single for Saturday? Morning or afternoon works.
Last bump for our outing at Scioto Reserve and Kinsale on 9/30. It will be one heck of a day…I promise!
PS - Don’t tell @Tron about our keynote speaker!
Oh god. Legitimately going to pull our support. Can’t be associated with Urb or Shelley in any form or fashion.
I am sure @2PuttBogey will provide copy that reads: “And thanks to No Laying Up, except Tron Carter, for their support to this great cause. Although Tron did not want to be directly associated with our event, he was adamant I announce that Big Randy is in fact Big Nut.”
I’ll be happy to pass on any NLU swag you want me to give to them!
hey ohioans. I’m going to be in the Dayton/Centerville area for a wedding and it sounds like I’m going to have some time before the rehearsal dinner Friday to get a round in. Can anyone tell me anything about yankee trace? It’s close to the hotel and should work the best for my schedule. I was surprised not to see anything on here about it.
I also saw quite a few folks in this thread that were members in the area, but I didn’t want to ask someone to host me at a very specific time on a very specific date.
I like yankee trace - it’s usually in nice shape for a public course. It’s not easy, but not terribly tough. I wouldn’t consider it a woke course , and the scariest hazards are the houses that surround the holes. Some of them are nice and too close for comfort…
I probably prefer heatherwood in that area for public courses…
Yankee Trace is a solid facility. They have 27 holes with a decent range. Prices are okay…I have only played 18 of the 27 holes and it was ten years ago, but conditioning was pretty good. I have eaten there more than I have played because of their excellent Sunday brunch. I will say I have driven past Yankee Trace several times recently and the course always seems very busy. So, I am not sure on pace of play.
If I didn’t have to work on Friday, I would join you.
I think the KF / web / nationwide / buy.com / Nike / hogan tour played at Yankee for a couple years in the 90s - so it’s at least tough enough for that.
I played Yankee 2 or 3 years ago and I remember it being a pretty nice course. It was a fairly boring housing development course but it seemed well maintained.
Yankee is usually in good shape but I personally don’t care for the course at all. Seems to always be rated highly though. Have fun!
I played yankee last Monday for a charity event. I’m not sure that it’ll be worth it. They just punched the greens on two of the 9s and were actively punching the fairway on the other 9.
It did host a Nike/buy.com tour event for a couple years. I think that the tournament moved before the tour changed to nationwide/web.com/KF tour to give you an idea about how long ago that was.
Damn you guys really come out of the woodwork, thanks for the great info. I may steer clear if they’re punched, so I’d be open for suggestions in the area.
It’s all I can do to try to get a game locally in the Indiana thread on the refuge. I guess I live in the wrong state?
Heatherwoode is like 10-15 minutes from Yankee, and I’d try there if I were you. I like it a lot better than Yankee
Lots of courses in Cincinnati/Dayton are probably aerating around this time.
Hey guys, me again. Kind of spaced that I’m left to my own devices all morning. Anyone have a game for tomorrow morning?
Hey everyone,
Just finished up 36 with @joecline41 and we had a blast. We were the first group off of at Lakewood country club this morning and it was an absolute delight. Weather was perfect and our match was incredible close the whole way. Despite my home field advantage, Joe managed to beat my 88 with an 87. Also played tilt and Joe took a 36 32 lead into the afternoon. Grabbed some lunch and then played 18 at Big Met, where we only focused on our tilt match. I caught fire and went net birdie-net eagle-net eagle somewhat early on, but otherwise our scores were fairly close. I finished up with an 85 to Joe’s 86, and had 118 tilt points on the day to his 94, so even with my hot stretch it was pretty close.
We have played three rounds together and no one has beaten the other person by more than a stroke, so they’ve all been pretty competitive. Here are today’s scorecards for the curious.
Kept track of putts during the first round but got a little lazy the second round.
Going to be in Cincy this weekend and potentially will have some openings for a Saturday morning foursome. Anyone want to join my father in law and I? Not sure how many openings we have cause he’s got some buds that play but thought i’d put some feelers out there. Don’t have a place to play yet.
Which part of Cincinnati? If you need course recommendations, let me know.
Father in law picked Shaker run which isn’t my favorite but it’s fine and had the earliest tee time.
