Roll Call: Ohio (OATW adjacent) and localized ice cream debates (Part 1)

Alright @Greenthumb - welcome! I’d add in Mt. Lookout / East Hyde Park and Mariemont / Fairfax as neighborhoods to check out within ~10 min of Camargo.

you’ll need to stake your cincinnati ground in a few ways:

  1. preferred local brewery & beer
  2. how deep your hate for Mike Brown is, regardless of your actual NFL fandom
  3. skyline order (gold star need not apply)

  1. Decide your goetta allegiance (Glier’s is the correct choice)
  2. Favorite Graeters ice cream flavor
  3. Eat Montgomery Inn ribs and question why the fuck they call it barbecue

Welcome to the neighborhood. I’m new to the Refuge but a long-time lurker. I live in Oakley and will keep my eyes peeled. Check Trulia and Zillow as they seem to have the most robust list. Just up the road in Pleasant Ridge can be had as well for a slightly lower toll but many of the same amenities.

I didn’t even know that there was an alternative to Glier’s (hot goetta, to be specific here)

Queen City Sausage is the main competitor

But what about the best Meth? Perhaps I should see your name as M Ethridge but I read Meth Ridge. Goes well with Goetta.

Hey guis are courses playable in central Ohio? Driving through from MI where we’re buried in snow

West Side - Price Hill Chili
East Side - Blue Ash Chili Parlor

I personally think Skyline is terrible.

Blue Ash is my personal fave. Camp Washington chili still around? Used to go there with some work friends when I lived in the Nati years ago.

No snow on the ground in Columbus. I’m not sure what courses would be open still. Maybe Raymond?

  3. I had a “Dill Dog” at Blue Ash Chili (a cheese coney but with a fried pickle instead of a hot dog) the other day… It really rocked my world. That being said, I was very nervous about my enunciation the several minutes before I ordered it… Skyline is fine.
  4. I like goetta, no strong preference on the source
  5. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  6. The porkchops, though… chef’s kiss

Thanks! Hoping for Denison. Played there last January & may have been my favorite round of the year

Blacklick is open even with snow - only closed during frost . And it’s free in the winter!

The Cincy Poll (I’m in Columbus but my parents and all my extended family are from SW Ohio)

  1. Favorite brewery - Moerlein
Favorite beer - Amber Hudy. (Burger beer honorable mention )
  2. Mike Brown did choose to keep the bengals in Cincinnati when the smart thing would’ve been to sell them off to Baltimore. But nothing makes me more angry than the Bengals.
  3. 4 way onion. Cheese coney with everything. But literally everything on the menu is good.
  4. Gliers
  5. Black Raspberry Chip
  6. Montgomery Inn … is not BBQ. But it also tastes really good. And so does La Rosas pizza. Shame on Cincy guys for not appreciating what they have in front of them!

Camp Washington is great, probably my second favorite after Pleasant Ridge Chili.

There are 5 BBQ joints ahead of Montgomery Inn in Cincinnati, and 3 of them are the good BW3 locations

Same with La Rosas, that’s just an Italian casserole on bread.

Please, I didn’t invite you down 71.
