Roll Call: North Carolina

Back in the mid 2000s I worked Sunday mornings in the shop. YCC was “private” then and in great shape. Non-member play was allowed Sunday mornings as all good Yadkinians went to church so the place was empty until 12:30. The rate was $36 to play and ride. Guys would rave about it. We had a secret paradise for a time. Then people thought $95 month dues for a family was too much. $11 cart fee too high. 9/11 happened. Paradise lost.

Hey Taffy— fellow Yadkinite here. Used to work at the pool in the summertime at YCC. Summer ‘04-‘05. Small world here on the refuge, didn’t know many folks knew about YCC. Are you from Y-Vegas? My only question… Rams or Falcons…

Cheers!

@anon29849602 @JamesHCard and myself are playing Mooresville Golf Club Saturday at 10:20 am and looking for a 4th!

Mooresville is taking the COVID precautions very seriously, which has made us feel better about playing there. It will be walking only. Give us a shout if you want to play! The tee time is in @anon29849602’s name.

Thinking of playing Bryan Park Players at 11 on Friday and Tobacco Road at around the same time Saturday. Let me know if you’re interested in either

I will most likely be up in the Charlotte area in about 2 weeks (4/23 ish) to pick up my FINALLY finished car. I know COVID and all, but would anyone be interested in playing some golf?

Any Triangle guis played Wildwood Green recently? Looking to switch it up this weekend. Believe their greens are bent so now is probably the time to play it before summer

Looks like my wife is making go to Wilmington for the week… Anybody know how much the pinehurst courses are for golf only? Might have to finally make the trip

Honestly with the pandemic, I’d say your best bet is to call whatever courses you’re interested in playing. From the website, hotels are all closed to guests right now, so there may be decent golf rates to get people to still come play, although all I can see online is their normal prices. Gotta be worth at least asking if they’re running discounts.

I played there a week back, didn’t seem terribly discounted but their tee sheet is definitely more open.
Gonna be a hike from Wilmington to drive over to Pinehurst, you doing a day trip? You should also hit some other courses in the area if you can to make the drive worth it.

Pinehurst is about a 2.5 hour drive from Wilmington, just adding that in case you were planning on a day trip. And there are a bunch of good courses in the Wilmington area that won’t be as far of a drive if you can’t do Pinehurst.

WWG went to Bermuda 2-3 summers ago. Off the top of my head, about the only bent grass public courses left in the triangle are LPGC and Finley. Chapel Ridge may still be I think, but I can’t remember for sure. Falls village did theirs last year and Preserve several years back, but I don’t think CR ever did theirs. Crossings may still be bent too

Crossings is still bent. Same with Umstead Pines, though Umstead seems to do a good job of keeping them up compared to the others.

I played it about 3 weeks ago @raleighdawg. It was in decent shape. Fairways were firm, which was nice. Greens were in above average shape. That was my first time out there. I would go back.
