Roll Call: North Carolina

Sounds good. Look forward to playing with Refugees in Charlotte.

Welcome! I left Piper Glen back in October after a few years there. Left because it was far from my house but I’m closing on a new house tomorrow that’s about 10 minutes away so kind of regretting it now.

Cape Fear National is one of my favorites in the area, just wish they wouldn’t have built houses on the back nine… I belong to Pine Valley and split time between Fayetteville and Wilmington, hope to be back in the area full time soon. Will have to meet up somewhere to play this spring/summer.

I’m with you on CFN. It’s such a pretty course but all the building has really taken away from it. Not to mention the wind on the back nine now with no trees , especially 11,12,13. For sure, definitely would be up for playing a round somewhere in the area this spring/summer.

Another CLT refugee checking in here. I’m in the Plaza Midwood area (still waiting to meet a drunk guy out at the bar that invites me on to Charlotte CC). Joined the refuge after I saw an NLU tweet with the events schedule and saw Charlotte on the list.

I play all over Charlotte, usually chasing deals like the strapped boys. I picked the game up a few years ago when I moved down here after playing a bit as a kid. I am not very good, but still love the game and just getting out there to have fun.

Looking forward to meeting a lot of you in a few weeks!

Thought ya’ll might want to see thi write up about Dormie in the local paper:

This news still bums me out. Being out in the middle of nowhere with that small club house was the best. Literally the only thing to do up there was golf.

I understand the sentiment, but this was inevitable. The entire business model is built around national members bringing in guests for a weekend of golf. If they don’t have amenities and lodging on site, members would need to stay elsewhere, and the draw would be significantly diminished.

Welcome @ATLtoCLT. And shoutout to @BushwoodCaddie and @Bmasters (*edit). I am also out of South Charlotte. Not a member anywhere (yet) but live near Raintree. Play wherever I can. Keep an eye on the Carolinas RACDG posts (there’s a WhatsApp thread we can invite you to). Also, maybe we need to create a CLT WhatsApp and/or thread for those last minute TeeTimes. Can’t wait to tee it up sometime.

We have a CLT WhatsApp group…

I vaguely recall creating after several woodfords and an entire bottle of cab last week on a work trip to Greenville. It’s worked out quite nicely

Driver fitting. Keep meaning to post it in the Fitting thread.

I definitely question how well this business model is built.

damn i hate i didnt see this earlier…were you able to get a round in?

there is a great course real close to Elon

i thought the same thing…no paved parking lot, trailer for a club house, no cart paths…just show up and play golf

news did a feature on history of one of the local munis here yesterday…perry maxwell design that has some special history to it; city sold the land that 9 of the holes were on, leaving it with 9 but they have alternate tee boxes to make 18 holes

Very interesting article but whoever wrote that seriously needs an editor and/or proofreader.

Wait you’re telling me Perry Maxwell designed Gillespie? I never knew that

It’s a fun little course. Not in the best condition but has some fun holes.
