I have played both many many times and I favor MidPines, but I love PN too. PN feels bigger but MP plays harder. MP has 4, 9, and 12- three short fours that can and will eat your lunch. MP is also an easier walk as odd as that seems. Something about the Inn at MP too.
I liked Pine Needles a bit more, though the greens are slightly more difficult than Mid Pines. Seemed to be more common for putts to go off the green at PN.
When I played Pine Needles, the course wasnt dormant like it was when. I played Mid Pines. I also played a lot better.
Both are great courses, I probably lean towards PN as well but you canât go wrong either way
Agreed. Played Pine Needles last time I went down there, so itâs Mid Pinesâ turn.
Best food options near pinehurst?
The drum and quill in the village is a good spot. I had a roast beef samich last time I was there that was pretty good.
Love having a pint at Duganâs
Chapmanâs in Southern Pines is the best combination of excellent dishes and price you will find. Burgers, very good steaks, also have things like Beef Stroganoff.
Duganâs is a good place as welll. Can recommend the Shepherdâs pie.
At the resort, the Deuce is awesome, but it offers a limited dinner menu and closes earlier than many would like. Ryder Cup Lounge is not bad at all and is reasonable, I like the Chicken Curry there.
The Brewery is good, the chicken and sausage are standouts IMO. Good collards too.
Super late notice, but have 9:30 at Tobacco Road tomorrow morning and our 4th just backed out. Would love if someone wanted to fill out the group.
The beef stroganoff is muy bueno!!! I have had it twice. Peter Hamm (chef owner) was the chef at Pine Needles several years ago and he amped up the food there exponentially ( and it has stayed there after he left). Chapmanâs has turned into my go to casual spot in SP. Maxies and Drum and Quill are my PH choices.
Hey all. Southern Pines/Pinehurst/Aberdeen area resident here. Itâd be awesome to get some rounds going with some of you in the future. Glad the NLU boys did their recent season of Tourist Sauce here and highlighted Southern Pines Golf Club. You can walk 18 there at twilight rates for $20 now. Such a great deal for an amazing course.
Need a roommate?
what is it?
W-S is close to me. I would be down for that.
The Royal & Ancient Company of Dishonorable Golfers.
Here is the link to sign up. There is also a thread on the RADGC
Finishing a looong week of work tomorrow, and looking forward to happier days ahead. Just want to get minds a buzzin for next weekâŚanyone free around the Charlotte area? Tuesday or Thursday probably best options for me.
Second Hillandale. Whatâs fun is who you get paired with sometimes. Played One time with these two old cats who called me âYoungbloodâ the entire round and as soon as I made contact off the tee you could hear the break release on the cart. I think we played 18 in under 2 hours. Iâve never been so out of breath riding a cart!
Im free thursday, i get outta class at like 11:15.
Where are you? HP here
anyone got some insight on Highland Creek in Concord area? 2nd closest track to the hotel and playing Rocky River on wed, may slip over to HC if its worth the afternoon trip solo
