I certainly hope you’re right, because if I make that decision there aren’t any options left.
Hey, are they cart path only this time of year “due to the dormant grass”?
No, it will only be CPO if it is super wet but there’s not any rain in the forecast all weekend so you should be good to go
FWIW, the muni is a super easy walk.
At the risk of being completely shameless, does anyone have any connections to Old Town Club? I will be passing through on March 19 and after reading the Club TFE review awhile back it really stuck with me as a place I would love to see. Again, I know it’s quite unbecoming to ask but I figured the worst that could happen is I get told to eff off.
If we have any, they have yet to make their presence known.
I’d suggest the peoples Old Town, Reynolds Park. Also a Maxwell, and public
I figured it would be a long shot! I have a connection at the cc of Nc I will probably try to get in touch with but figured it would worth asking since Old Town is one of my “white whale” courses! Thanks!
I’ve heard that on occasion an email to the club from out of staters can sometimes lead to a guest tee time but can’t verify that from personal experience.
I actually sent a hand written letter about two weeks ago. Maybe I will try an email next week. As you can tell, I’m extremely interested in seeing the course.
I think a couple local guys got on recently through Thousand Greens.
Ahh I’m a public golfing boy so I’m not able to go that route. Good thought though!
I have a buddy that legitimately thought his pro made him a tee time there (which Old Town does not do) and they let him play anyway. Might be an option for you.
Wait, he just rolled up… Said he had a time through his buddy and they let him out?
I think I’m gonna start trying this at a few places lol. I’m not a member of a club yet but they don’t have to know that.
That’s it. It’s wild.
I have never been able to play there but every person I know that has played there, says everyone associated with that club (member or employee) is very nice and seems very happy you are there to experience their club.
I would love to try this… But I suspect that since I have now reached out via handwritten letter AND email I would show up and they would be onto me. Plus I think my anxiety would be through the roof just waiting for them to call my bluff.
I have a friend named Eugene that rolls up everywhere and acts like he belongs. It’s amazing how he ends up getting into places he has no business in. He’s played Old Town Club, been on the sidelines and luxury suites for Panthers and Hornets games, Charlotte FC games, and the infield and suites of Nascar races.
Just a few weeks ago, he walked down on the court for a Hornets game. Pretended to be a ball-boy. When a Bulls player asked him how long he’d been a ball-boy since they didn’t see too many 40 year old dudes in that role, Eugene confessed he wasn’t affiliated with the Hornets. He just likes to act like he belongs to see how much he can get away with. The Bulls thought it was cool and gave him all kinds of swag. He stayed on their bench the entre game. I have video of it to prove it but I’m not going to out him that way.
I have a photo of him wearing a Sun Belt Conference vest on the sideline of the Duke’s Mayo Bowl game in Charlotte from this season.
Ballsiest bastard I have ever known!!!
Your friend Eugene is the definition of ‘Menace’
I am in awe of some people’s brazenness. I wish I had the audacity to just roll up to a place and say, “Yeah sorry I thought my pro made me a tee time” while hoping they let me play.
