Roll Call: North Carolina

That’s a great course for a half set too. I’ve played with an old school Cally Deuce, even irons, SW, and putter. Lots of fun.

My only recommendation is to play the morning after also. Set the tone early.

Grove Park if you can swing it. Reems Creek north of Asheville is always a treat. Chestnut Mountain used to be named High Vista and was shut down. Has since reopened and I’ve heard good things. If timing allows it, Cummings Cove down in Hendersonville is a fun mountain course with great views.

The big stuff is done. Now we’re just bringing the turf back. Killing off all the random grass so the Bermuda can take over.

@TheFlyingWasp Congrats on the pending nuptuals. Asheville muni is on the come up and playing very nicely. Should be even better next month, and Highland Brewing is basically across the street.

Grove Park is a little steeper pricewise ($100+), but it’s another Donny and loads of fun. Afterwards, grab a drink on the terrace.

I haven’t played Reems Creek, but heard good things.

Steer clear of Broadmoor. I know it’s near the airport and Sierra Nevada, but skip it. It’s a swamp.

I can second Reems. It is a very fun track.

I worked at the Zoo in Asheboro. I used to hit the muni after work for an E9. I could get around there in just over an hour. Super walkable and, like you said, some fun holes.
The front to back slope on the 8th green has to be the most sever I have ever seen anywhere. The water is blind off the tee on that hole. If you don’t know it’s there you can easily rinse one without knowing.
The creek on the only par 5 4th is in the perfect spot. I could carry it some days and not others. The good thing is it’s so narrow that taking driver is always worth the risk.

Feel free to dig around the interactive map on our website. Posted this before - but usually does the trick. Click on a course to see pics and type (public vs private), architect and more importantly pics of what you’ll get.

We’d throw out Springdale as a good option. Better stuff is out of town. Fun one is Orchard Trace (no idea on conditions, last time was rough but how often do you get to play 18 holes under the lights!?!)

Flying in tomorrow about noon into charlotte. Looking to play as soon as i get a rental and head out. Any one playing in the area in the afternoon? Staying in Huntersville but can go anywhere.

Springdale is awesome. Well worth the 45-ish minute drive from Asheville. Maggie Valley Club is also a really fun and well maintained track out in that direction, brilliant views.

I will be in Newport Tennessee, just about an hour east of Asheville from Sept 14-October 12. I have Fridays-Sundays off and am looking to find some people to play with or some games to play. After that I’ll be in the Raleigh area for 2 weeks looking for the same.

Check your map. Pretty sure Newport is west of Asheville.

Pretty strong group of like minded crazy golfers down Raleigh way. Don’t pass on Moore County if you are that close.

Wow, I need to get a new map

Anyone a current or former member at Lonnie Poole? I’m considering membership, but I’d like to hear a member’s perspective on booking tee times

I have a couple buddies coming down for a visit from MN and am looking to take them to a few courses. I joined a club when I moved down and have not gotten out much. What are the best budget options in the Pinehurst area, and how about mountain golf within reasonable driving distance from CLT?

Was thinking of playing me club one day, golfnow a place like Eagle Chase one day, and drive either to Pinehurst or the mountains for a round.
