Anyone located in the Sandhills?
It sounds like a perfect storm for pastries on Saturday evening from CbA, and then coffee from Northern Roots on Sunday AM.
Is 913 Whiskey Bar worth checking out? We booked a table, thru an online service, for Saturday night. (Hoping the reservation is legit/valid. If itās not, oh well). We are going to a concert on Saturday evening and it looked decent.
There are several here who are Sandhills locals. I was one at one point, but no longer.
Whatās up?
I personally have not been but Iāve heard its good.
Gentlemen
Iāll be in Asheville for work Oct 27-30
I have all morning on Monday the 28th to golf - Iāll have my clubs in tow coming from the NIT (humblebrag) so clearly Iāll need to purge my body with your fresh mountain air and southern hospitality
If anyone wants to meetup Iād be happy to play with some like-minded individuals - LMK if anyone wants to link up
Otherwise, looking for recommendations where I should go
Please note & full transparency - Iām far too lazy to ctrl-F and see what yaāll have recommended the last 5 times outsiders came in with similar āwhere do I playā requests
913 was pretty good. Itās a relatively small place, but it was cool. Menu was adequate and the drink menu had plenty of options. Would recommend reservations. It wonāt blow you away, but also wonāt let you down either.
I didnāt get a chance to hit up Cheesecake By Alex. Timing just didnāt work. But we did stop at Northern Roots on Sunday AM. Good coffee. My only regret there was not getting a muffin. They looked good.
And Zach Bryan, on Saturday night, was awesome. 20,000 + people singing every word to every song was a spectacle.
I completely forgot about no laying up account.
Iām a member at PN- there are some decent games if next time your down and want to find a match.
No worries, will probably be around again later in the year. Played PN a couple of times when there. First time I have played in the summer in a long time so the rounds were pretty warm :-). We were staying just behind the 3rd green so nice and easy.
Iām in Wilmington on vacation and have a 9:51 tee time tomorrow at Wilmington Muni if any Refugees would like to join. DM if interested.
New to the area. Looking to get involved
Nice!
@rkris @Harper @KyaKona are among the Sandhills crowd, but there are others.
@Swing_hard_and_hope can get you the First Flight (and broader Carolinas) WhatsApp links.
Where in the Sandhills are you?
@jtracy96, where are you in N.C.? Your answer will inform us of your roost.
Southern Pines. I joined Longleaf
@rkris is also a member at LL.
Noice!
Weāve got a small group that plays on SundaysāDM me if you want and Iāll get you into the appropriate WhatsApp chat so we can start up once the punching heals
Got yourself one heck of a nice day to play Muni! Sad to be stuck at work.
Was beautiful! Considering the weather the last week the course was in great shape. But holy s#$% was pace of play brutal. Iāve played there a bunch when on vacation but itās never taken me 5+ hours.
Played this one as a very late stop on the drive down to drop my daughter off for her senior year.
Except for the par threes, and some trees that could be cut back a bit⦠this course was a joy. Such a good piece of land. None of the pictures I took do it justice, so Iāll toss one of the third green in here at the end, but I was seriously impressed by the land and the way the holes moved over them, kind of diagonally across a valley.
The stand-out holes for me were the sixth (a slight dogleg left par four) and the eighth. But, really, all of the holes except for the par threes were good.
The greens are tiny and not in good shape, but theyāre in good shape for $10! I think they could be expanded about 2 to almost 3 feet all around - the fringes are WIDE - but I understand the extra cost in maintaining larger greens, and even then theyād still be small. And I donāt think they were ever much bigger, as itās not like the āgreen padā appears to be much wider.
Anyway, it was quite a fun diversion. I donāt know that Iāll ever play it again, but if I lived nearby⦠I could see inviting a lot of people out there.
Played here (Asheboro Muni) a couple of weekends ago on our way back to Charlotte after Gillespie was closed due to rain three days before. My buddy is a big course architecture nut and was in awe. Highlight for us was him hitting the green from 170 out on 3. I glitched on the par 3 by the Taco Bell parking lot. Couldnāt bring myself to swing when cars were driving down that road.
