Roll Call: North Carolina

Smidler is correct. They don’t open until 10 on Sunday’s though. Northern Roots opens at 8.

Anyone located in the Sandhills?

It sounds like a perfect storm for pastries on Saturday evening from CbA, and then coffee from Northern Roots on Sunday AM.

Is 913 Whiskey Bar worth checking out? We booked a table, thru an online service, for Saturday night. (Hoping the reservation is legit/valid. If it’s not, oh well). We are going to a concert on Saturday evening and it looked decent.

There are several here who are Sandhills locals. I was one at one point, but no longer.

What’s up?

Gentlemen

I’ll be in Asheville for work Oct 27-30
I have all morning on Monday the 28th to golf - I’ll have my clubs in tow coming from the NIT (humblebrag) so clearly I’ll need to purge my body with your fresh mountain air and southern hospitality

If anyone wants to meetup I’d be happy to play with some like-minded individuals - LMK if anyone wants to link up

Otherwise, looking for recommendations where I should go

Please note & full transparency - I’m far too lazy to ctrl-F and see what ya’ll have recommended the last 5 times outsiders came in with similar “where do I play” requests

913 was pretty good. It’s a relatively small place, but it was cool. Menu was adequate and the drink menu had plenty of options. Would recommend reservations. It won’t blow you away, but also won’t let you down either.

I didn’t get a chance to hit up Cheesecake By Alex. Timing just didn’t work. But we did stop at Northern Roots on Sunday AM. Good coffee. My only regret there was not getting a muffin. They looked good.

And Zach Bryan, on Saturday night, was awesome. 20,000 + people singing every word to every song was a spectacle.

I completely forgot about no laying up account.

I’m a member at PN- there are some decent games if next time your down and want to find a match.

No worries, will probably be around again later in the year. Played PN a couple of times when there. First time I have played in the summer in a long time so the rounds were pretty warm :-). We were staying just behind the 3rd green so nice and easy.

I’m in Wilmington on vacation and have a 9:51 tee time tomorrow at Wilmington Muni if any Refugees would like to join. DM if interested.

Noice!

We’ve got a small group that plays on Sundays—DM me if you want and I’ll get you into the appropriate WhatsApp chat so we can start up once the punching heals

Got yourself one heck of a nice day to play Muni! Sad to be stuck at work.

Was beautiful! Considering the weather the last week the course was in great shape. But holy s#$% was pace of play brutal. I’ve played there a bunch when on vacation but it’s never taken me 5+ hours.

Played this one as a very late stop on the drive down to drop my daughter off for her senior year.

Except for the par threes, and some trees that could be cut back a bit… this course was a joy. Such a good piece of land. None of the pictures I took do it justice, so I’ll toss one of the third green in here at the end, but I was seriously impressed by the land and the way the holes moved over them, kind of diagonally across a valley.

The stand-out holes for me were the sixth (a slight dogleg left par four) and the eighth. But, really, all of the holes except for the par threes were good.

The greens are tiny and not in good shape, but they’re in good shape for $10! I think they could be expanded about 2 to almost 3 feet all around - the fringes are WIDE - but I understand the extra cost in maintaining larger greens, and even then they’d still be small. And I don’t think they were ever much bigger, as it’s not like the “green pad” appears to be much wider.

Anyway, it was quite a fun diversion. I don’t know that I’ll ever play it again, but if I lived nearby… I could see inviting a lot of people out there.
