Also in Wilmington and would be into play SP. Played it a few weeks ago and it’s as good as advertised
Wednesday is my only day I can’t take off and my weekends are pretty spoken for until I leave. I may be able to swing Sunday 11/7 but I’ve gotta double check. If I am good to go for the 7th, it’d be a day trip, if you’re interested.
I’m actually going on a work trip to Dormie Club that weekend and I think I’m playing Mid Pines before we leave on the 7th. I could probably swing a trip on Friday the 12th
First available tee time on 11/7 is 1:36pm which puts me out of my playability window. 11/7 is also first day of daylight savings time. Sunset is at 5:17pm, holy schnikes I do not like that. I’m out.
Boo daylight savings time. Boo 5:15 sunsets.
I’m the only person in my house that hates DST
It’s the worst!!! Just love rolling into driveway after long day at work only to realize if I want to do anything outside I gotta wear a headlamp lol
It’s looking like SP might not happen because of schedules, but I’d be down to play Muni here in Wilmington sometime.
buddy played in saturday and said a couple of the greens were pretty rough; not what i was expecting to hear from that place this time of year
We’re in daylight savings time, we switch to standard time in November-March. Everyone boos the wrong thing.
If I had a tee time at Longleaf booked and then purchased the Group Golfer voucher after booking my tee time, can I just show up the day of my tee time and present the voucher? It says you can use it anytime so in my mind, that shouldn’t be a problem. However, I know courses can be a little weird with Group Golfer vouchers at times.
You were that kid in class, right?
You should call and let them know you’re using the voucher.
You’re literally a professor!
Alright, great. Thanks!
Only in the classroom. Also, that’s not in my area of specialty.
Fellow Nesticles: First time in this thread.
My family looks to be moving to NC in the next year or so. I’m a true west coaster and never golfed on the east coast even once. I live in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and golf is very resort based here and catered toward the uber wealthy and visitors. I’ve looked at getting in to a club here but the costs just don’t make it worth it.
Obviously the golf is a huge plus for me in North Carolina because it frankly looks much cheaper and the ability to get into a club appears much more reasonable.
What are you guys’ thoughts on the club scene in the Raleigh-Durham area. Is a club the way to go or should i stay open to playing around at different courses? Are there waitlists at most clubs right now?
Any other tips or tricks to the area are welcome. We’re pretty narrowed down to the Raleigh Durham area but no specifics beyond that. Any areas that are better for golf or offer better vibes than other parts?
Thank you in advance!
If I had a family, Raleigh area or Wilmington would be my preference (I’m in the Charlotte area for work circumstances but just prefer those two). I joined a club in my area just because the public scene was getting far too expensive and crowded in Charlotte (I can’t speak to Raleigh costs since I left). However, as most will tell you, if you live in the areas southwest of Raleigh you can be in the sandhills in an hour, so that may influence joining a club.
Being a native of Oregon and the Pacific NW, Asheville speaks to me but the wife won’t go for that and I think Raleigh appears to be the winner especially since we have small kids. Super excited for the proximity to the sandhills!
I would say that the club scene in Raleigh/Durham is only ok. There are a few but they’re pretty pricey overall. There are some great options for out of town rates at some of the sandhills area courses. It all depends on where exactly you end up living in Raleigh as well. It’s not a huge city but it still takes a while to get around.
