I live in Raleigh and work at a club in the Triangle. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions about the private clubs in the area, happy to help.
Piggybacking on this, I would figure out where you want to live first and then you can look into the public vs private scene. On a general level, I will say this about private clubs in the Triangle, which applies to a bunch of things around here right now: private golf around here can be pricey is comparison to public golf, but is not as pricey as private golf in other larger cities. Itās part of the reason so many people are moving here from other areas.
We just moved to North Raleigh a couple months ago. Were going to join Hasentree but they jacked up their rates and initiation to a level that we just werenāt comfortable with. We joined Wakefield Plantation instead and weāve been very happy with it. Itās not super pricey but I have three kids and a wife that play so it ends up being cheaper for me in the long run. Wakefield also has a 9-hole short course in addition to the 18-hole course that is never busy and is a great place to catch a quick 9 and sharpen your iron game.
Wakefield is owned by McConnell and they have some pretty good reciprocals in the area (Raleigh CC, Treyburn, Sedgefield) that you can get on very easily.
Definitely nail down where you are going to live first as the housing market here is pretty wild.
Having a nine hole short course sounds nice. Yeah pinning down an area is somewhat overwhelming because we can live anywhere since I work remote. Will definitely be interesting on our scouting visits.
The work day should end at 4 PM.
Iāve got a spot open at 8:20 on Sunday morning at Longleaf if anyone wants to join the young hitter and coach david and myself.
Come visit the Sandhills, thereās more to life in Moore Co.
I live in downtown Raleigh and would make the sell on it being a great place to live in the triangle. The two downtown CCs are a little too rich for my blood, but would be glad to help any way you need on questions about the area.
As other mentioned with this crew and proximity to the Sandhills you can end up golfing all over. For context I have played 70 rounds this year - it has been at 46 different courses.
Iād agree it makes sense to wait and check out the scene.
If going the club route, McConnell Golf is a good option considering the courses they have in their network.
Hey everyone. I donāt post here often but I always really enjoy following the conversationā¦ shoutout SP its sooo good. Iām a student at UNC and Iām working on a golf entrepreneurship project for one of my classes. Would really appreciate it if yāall helped me out by filling out this survey:
https://unc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cY2D9hzr9XmH8vc
Only takes 30 seconds! Thanks for your help!
Do we get a Qualtrics hat for participating?
Moving this week to Myers park area, play off 12, push cart warrior
Not familiar with the golf scene there but welcome!!!
Playing once/week is 5/5? This clearly wasnāt a survey targeted at this groupā¦
Afternoon everyone, here to ask a favor of someone or someoneās. I have collected ball markers from courses courses Iāve played but theyāre not really good for displaying. I have seen pencil displays (like the photo Iāve posted) and I think itās a great way to show the courses Iāve played in a compact organized way.
When I was in Pinehurst area last month I had not thought and hence my favor I am asking for. If anyone is close to one of these courses or has a trip planned soon to play them I would be extremely appreciative if you would grab a pencil for me and mail it to me. Of course I would pay for all shipping.
The courses I am looking for are:
Pinehurst No. 2
Pinehurst No. 4
The Cradle
The Nest (the snack shack on 4)
Southern Pines
Tobacco Road
Thank you in advance!
Ben
I donāt think each of the Pinehurst courses have different pencils. I could be wrong, but I have no seen different ones. So youāre looking for a Pinehurst, SP, and TR pencil I believe. I will check but not sure I have extras. Iām sure it wonāt be difficult to get those three from someone, though.
Benā¦Iāll look through my stuff. I probably have extra āstuffā from each of the Pinehurst courses. Iāll just have to dig through my golf junk. haha.
I wasnāt sure if they do or nor. I have a Pinehurst pencil, but couldnāt remember if every course has an individual pencil like their ball markers.
Iām playing TR and Pinehurst in two weeks. If you
Remind Iād be happy to grab some
The Cradle might, Iāll look. But the other courses didnāt. They had different tees and ball markers, but the same pencils.
Thanks
