Yeah, definitely no intentions to walk for the tournament lol didn’t know about soggy, thanks for the heads up

Things are moving quickly, just called Pinehurst and got times at #4 at 9:40 & the cradle at 3:57 on 8/29, and on #2 at 9:40 on 8/30, staying @ the Manor for just the 1 night. Likely going to AirBnB the rest of the time.

The real course details + insights are probably best from @Deven75

Its in fantastic shape from what I’ve heard, they punched 3 weeks ago so they should have come in by now, definitely not walker friendly and will be mega soggy if it rains

Yeah, I believe condiddies are set up specifically for next weekend. Everything looks solid looking into the place, super hyped to get down there

Heading to pinehurst the 12-14, playing TR and Talamore, trying to decide between Pinehurst 1 or 3 that Friday, anybody have strong opinions one way or another? Also will likely have 2 open spots for Pinehurst round if anyone wants to join.

3 has undergone recent renovation work, so while I like 1, 3 is likely in better shape and I’ve heard from enough people that it’s a blast. I’d lean toward 3.

Can’t go wrong with 1 or 3. No 1 will be a more casual round, and No 3 will be a short course ass kicking.

Just seeing this but I’d be interested

10-4!! I am waiting to see what the details are for the April 2022 NLU event that will be there. Depending on the dates I am going to enter the lottery that will probably come with it. If that doesn’t work out then I will hit you up and see what we can figure out.

Cross posting from the Pinehurst thread: Booked Tobacco Road @ 8:20 on 8/23 & 9:00 on 8/26, Pine Needles at 7:50 on 8/24, and Mid Pines at 9:55 on 8/25 if anyone wants to join me & my dad / sherpa! Shoot me a DM. We’ll add some PM rounds @ longleaf / #3 / #1 as energy allows.

Unless you get there often. Do all you can to get there and play. Especially if your not there often or may never be again. Get there and play! Sleep can wait. I promise.

Interesting, I’ll have to talk to some of the members who have been there a while and see what they’ve noticed over the years. Renovated in 2007 of course, not really sure what has been done maintenance-wise since then, as I’ve only been out there for 2 years.

With the loss of putting surface, I’ll have to look more closely next time I play to see where it may have been lost, all of the greens are mostly surrounded by closely mown runoff areas so I’d be curious to know if it is just mowing practices or if any contours have actually been altered over the years due to natural erosion or something.

I don’t think the pga tour does the course justice, holding an event here in August is just dumb and the course is always gonna be a dartboard. Maybe someone else has more insight, but I’d bet the Tour has some say in how narrow the fairways get cut.

Interesting take. Sounds a bit like sour grapes. I was there a little over a week ago and I though it was in fantastic shape. Granted, it was my first visit so couldn’t compare to 8 years ago.
