Playing Lonnie Poole tomorrow with @Strantzy 12:30 and have two open spots. Anybody interested let either of us know!

My buddies and I are doing a Pinehurst trip in 2 weeks. Tobacco Road, Mid Pines, Pine Needles, Cradle and hopefully #4. Have an open AM slot for a Thursday on our way home. Is Tot Hill for $30 a must or any other recommendations around Pinehurst or Raleigh that are a must?

I’m not the guy to ask as I live 2.5 hours north of asheoro, but if you are a mike stranz fan as I am, its a bargain. @fore20 would tell you if you pay more than $30 you got ripped off tho

Just know that THF is very polarizing. Much more so than TR. For $30 it is a steal, IMO. The visuals and setting are worth that price alone. There are some absolutely outstanding holes and there are some WTF holes. For those that have never played THF it is worth playing and making up your own mind on it. I would think even the people that dislike it will say they are glad that played it at least 1x.

Before inputting my info, just wondering is the $30 THF deal only if you’re including Tot Hill in a package through the Group Golfer site? Or can that be used as a one-off? Minimum one 4some or is a single booking possible for that rate?

My opinion on THF is well documented here, but it might be worth $30 for the sake of satisfying curiosity. I’d tend to agree with @country35 that much more than that is highly questionable (at least from a golf perspective; if you like looking at interesting landscapes and bold shaping, then maybe…)

I’d keep an eye on the weather in Asheboro over the next couple weeks - THF isn’t as sandy and doesn’t drain as well as the Sandhills/Pinehurst courses. If it’s soggy, it’d be a real slog.

Single purchase is fine. It is not part of a package. I have been using groupgolfer to get discounted rounds for years. It is a way for courses to drive play and get people to try their courses.

you can buy just one or up to 4 usually, and its one off. I buy them all the time for NC courses, but they run NO FUCKING DEALS IN VA

Currently THF charges $64 for non-residents. That is WAY over priced. That course’s sweet spot is $40-$45 IMO. The GroupGolfer for $29 is a great deal. I’m one of the few that LOVE everything about THF as a golf course. I think it is a definite that if you are in the area you should play it.

Yeah I’d been trying to get down there since they had punched the week we went to TR last summer. Last weekend was not the weather I was looking for though ha.

whats up gang? new guy checking in from charlotte. i play just about anywhere and everywhere around town. public favorites are fort mill, rocky river, and ill always have a spot in my heart for charles t myers. i get out to river hills, piper glen, palisades and myers park on occasion too.

im def going to scoop one of those tot hill deals, never played it. related, my favorites within the hour range from charlotte are eagle chase and lancaster.

I don’t think Tot Hill is a must and that’s coming from someone who’s favorite course may well be Tobacco Road. If you’re driving through Raleigh on your way home, you could hit up Lonnie Poole.
