Roll Call: North Carolina

Sick!! That approach is typically tough with a long iron off a downhill lie. Be glad you’re a “short hitter” long hitters like @Swing_hard_and_hope and @AirMailWedges have to worry about losing their ball in the pond off the tee. For me, I only worry about that pond when I’m on 1 tee…

Hahaha that’s crazy. I really can’t fathom that pond on the left coming into play from a tee shot. That’s a different game than I’m playing haha

Do I feel a little guilty I have gone Driver - Gap wedge on a par 5? Yes

Have I made an eagle there? Nope

Used to walk a lot in the evenings at Carolina Lakes when I lived in Fayetteville. Fun little course with a variety of holes… you’ll find yourself spending more and more time in Pinehurst with this lovely group of degenerates.

Welcome! If you haven’t already, get on the NC What’sApp chat - @Double_Bogey_Dave can help. Rounds are set up in the Sandhills regularly. Look forward to teeing it!

great question! I have only gotten to play once since moving out here. Played Ayden CC last week. It was a decent track. Easy to walk. Hoping to get out more in the next couple weeks in the area. I’ve got like 4 different group golfers for eastern NC I gotta use

I played Ayden alot when I lived in Greenville. Bradford Creek is not bad, Ironwood is the best public option in town. Farmville is a fun and quirky course (it’s not a Ross but has similar characteristics), Cypress Landing is pretty good. I hear Cutter Creek is very good.

I played cutter creek years ago. It’s a great course. Need to get back there soon

Going to be down in Oak Island late March/early April. Looking at playing Oak Island Golf Club and Carolina National if anyone is in the area and interested in getting a round in. The rounds will be during the week though

So I’m officially moving to downtown Raleigh in March. Appreciate all the info people have posted here and through DMs. I’m looking forward to the chance to meet a lot of the Raleigh area crew and playing golf with everyone. Cheers

Jumping back in for some Raleigh folks input. What’s downtown like these days? Specifically Fayetteville and Wilmington streets? Been trying to decide between two neighborhoods to move and I’ve heard mixed answers on the Fayetteville St area.

Thanks

Fayetteville and Wilmington streets are right in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Not sure what you’re looking for in a neighborhood but they are more commercial than residential. Think tall office buildings in the financial district of a city. Courthouse, bank towers, bus station, etc. Lots of restaurants but not really where people live - more like where people go to work.

Thanks. I kind of figured that. There’s a building I like in that area but haven’t been sold on the neighborhood in terms of things to do, meeting people etc. I really like the neighborhood of the Warehouse district but haven’t found a building I loved yet.

Former Glenwood south resident. Warehouse district is probably going to be the priciest of all the areas. Glenwood south has lots of good options and I would say, other than being loud with revving engines and yelling, was an awesome place to live.

The only reason I would live on Fayetteville would be if I got a spot at the Hudson apartments. I think they are cool as shit.

We checked out Glenwood South but heard it’s populated by college kids at night. We liked the Warehouse district and liked the North Hills area too. We are very torn on where to live.

Yea it can get a bit rowdy but there are a few places a couple blocks off Glenwood that will keep the noise down. I think there is just a lot better bars and restaurants on Glenwood than Fayetteville.

North Hills is nice but I never spent a whole lot of time there and don’t think it’s a place I would want to live.

I’d look into the Five Points area as well. Long walk/short Uber to Glenwood South if you want to get down there but a pretty residential place. Not much in the way of apartments, but plenty of rental houses
