Will try to convince the wife that we absolutely need to stop in Roanoke.

I should be there for 5 days or so in the April 7-13th timeframe. Would be awesome if it works out.

It seems like this trip may be modified such that our Columbia friend will be coming to VA instead of the reverse. That being said, I’m looking for more courses to play in E/SE VA and NE NC area. So far this is what I’ve got if Pinehurst doesn’t work out.

Thanks for your help, I would otherwise be flying blind when picking out where to play!

Other options in eastern NC are Cutter Creek, Ironwood, Ayden Golf and CC, and Cypress Landing

They are a little bit of a detour on your route near Kinston (Cutter Creek) Washington (Cypress Landing), and Greenville (Ironwood and Ayden).

Also a deal for Ironwood on GroupGolfer right now.

DBD - Scotch Hall preserve pretty good? A couple buddies got in with this group a couple years back that does a weekend stay and play there every year and I’ve been thinking about dipping my toe…

I haven’t played there yet, but I have a couple of friends who speak highly of it.

Just finished 27 at Mid Pines. First time there and the place is amazing. Such a calm atmosphere, it was just a really, really fun place to play golf. I understand why everyone raves about it. I also recorded the first eagle of my life today, so I’m feeling good haha.

If you’re coming down I-95 and can find Wilson CC on golfnow or groupon or something, that’s was my home club growing up and is always in great shape

Spring Lake here. Mainly play Anderson Creek and Carolina Lakes. Head over to Pinehurst/Southern Pines when I’m feeling cocky and need to be humbled.

Being a person who doesn’t get many eagles, but does love mid pines I need the details, which hole? What were the shots: club and distance? I want it all!

Congrats and glad to hear you loved it, now just imagine when its firm and fast!

Haha, I’m happy to fill in some play by play. It was the 5th hole, the short Par 5.

I hit a solid drive down the right side of the fairway and it just caught the big slope and came back to the middle of the fairway. I think I got lucky, I couldn’t quite tell but I’m pretty sure it barely missed the sandy waste area on the right side.

I was about 205 from the green with a pretty good lie. The next shot sort of goes back up the hill to the green so I took a 4 iron (I’m not a long hitter at all) and it was legitimately maybe the only time I visualized a shot in my head and it actually worked out that way. I usually play a small cut so I aimed at the right side of the green (pin was in the middle), and made a surprisingly easy swing. It started over the right edge of the green and slowly came back toward the middle. It hit the green and rolled left toward the flag. It actually gave the pin a little scare and stopped about three feet from the hole.

I got to the green and was shocked at how close it how it was. A legit tap in eagle.
