I’ll be making the drive from Leesburg to Columbia and then Columbia to VA beach/Newport News area with an almost 2 yr old. Where would be the best place(s) to stop for a night to break up the drive?

It looks like it fits in with the Sandhills vibe more than most of the other courses out there and it seems nice and playable. I’m sold

Columbia to Newport News? No real need to break up the drive for the night, it’s 5-6hrs. Leesburg is about 7 hours, so they’re both day drives in my opinion (says the guy w/o kids).

Are there any ways to actually get on to Dormie Club? Do they have any non membership tee times available?

Last yr Tobacco Road travel (according to this thread) were able to book on Dormie. Unsure if that’s true for 21

I believe Talamore golf travel still has access. Tobacco Road golf travel likey does also. You could try to call them to see what the options are.

Both drives should be doable in one shot, just thinking of options/emergency solutions. You never know what you’re going to get with a 2 yr old.

Have you ever heard of “South of the Border”? It’s only about 2 hrs from Columbia, but it is a sight to behold.

No and that looks like a giant cluster.

NLU North Carolina looking for a little insight for a Philadelphia/South Jersey guy.

Coming down to Pinehurst the second weekend of April, we already have Tobacco Road booked Sunday, April 11th. We aren’t staying at the resort, so we can’t book any tee times for Pinehurst directly yet. Has anyone dealt with the restrictions before, what’s our luck of booking a tee time when the windows opens for the tee times? Also looking at Mid Pines and Pine Needles but same thing tee times open a month out too. Any help would be great! Also, if you think we are missing any other courses besides Pinehurst #1-9 and Cradle, Mid/Pine Needles, and Tobacco road recommendations are always wanted!

Call the pro shop at Mid Pines - the guy told me they were booking 90 days in advance, so I was able to book a tee time for March at the end of December. Since they’re 2 halves of the same coin you’d probably be able to get Pine Needles too.

I’d look into using tobacco road travel if you want to play pn/mp, dormie club etc. They won’t help with resort courses but could get you on anywhere else and usually have some sort of deal.

That’s basically peak season at PH, so the odds of getting on 2, 4 or 8 without staying at the resort are not good. I’d be very surprised if you get on unless you’re a single and get lucky.

1, 3, 5, 6 may be doable, but probably only an afternoon/late day tee time as mornings tend to get filled up by members.

Playing Midpines on Friday. Anyone played there recently and know how the conditions are? And do they overseed?

Pretty sure @Joezwickl lives there. They do overseed

Actually played there today. They definitely overseed. But that being said the course was playing very firm today.

Awesome, thanks. Was curious how wet/soft it would be.

Great conditions today.

Sweet. We can’t wait. Assuming it’ll be the same for Friday with no rain in the forecast
