Welcome, and you have found your way to the most active chapter of the Racdg on the refugee. literally people meeting up to play every weekend in that area.
Oakwoods is a fun golf course and club. I am a member there. Very enjoyable. For some reason I play the back better than the front!
Paging @Blackngold35. Former competitors in JR days potentially?
@Very.chipper @Blackngold35 heās of a familiar sort! Though if I was active as a junior it was nothing close to competitive lol
Anyone know the downstroke and dues for Carolina Golf Club? Wife and I are looking to move down in the spring and this is the club I keep coming back to. Coming down in February for a little advanced scouting.
I know this is premature, but wanted to make sure I asked before this thread potentially goes behind a pay wall.
Pretty sure initiation is between 25-30k and they have a 2-3 year waitlist.
@Blackngold35 some of your kin folk?
Do you know if they have a junior membership with a lower initiation? That is the one thing I have not been able to come across anywhere online, and they did not respond to my email inquiring.
They do not. Pretty big list to get In at the full nut and full dues so I guess they think they donāt need to offer a junior. I believe they will allow you to spread the initiation out over several payments but it is a promissory note, so youāre on the hook for the full amount once you sign.
Moving to Charlotte this spring. Would love to meet up for a round with yāall. Can I join the WhatsApp to stay connected?
TR players card is live:

I plan on going for first time before Xmas to see if iām in love or hate camp (assuming love based on descriptions) price goes up on 1/1
Big price hike from last Christmas. I think Gold was like $150. Iāll still buy it.
had a trade show in charlotte end of jan get moved to May now. Big win for me there as I manage those people and typically blow out early for golf. May 18-23 Iāll be taking ācustomers/refugeesā out hollatachaboi
Im in for sure!
I joined CGC as a junior about two years ago. The initiation gets divided up over 2-3 payments depending on how old you are. Dues are a bit lower, but not meaningfully. As you may imagine, drops are at an all time low, so the wait time is pretty hefty right now.
An update, come on in, we would love to have ya!
Hello Friends,
I wanted to provide an update to everyone regarding THE final round of the year. I canāt imagine any better way to close out 2020 than out at Tobacco Road with friends. I of course have a list for yāall so bear with me.
-
The Cost - I worked with Martha and the agreement we came up with was that it will be $68 for everyone. That price includes cart and range balls, although I know many in this group prefer to walk. This is slightly more money for those of us who have a players card, but I thought that was a fair agreement in order to be able to make the tee times a month out and is a good discount for those without the players card.
-
The Timing - We have the tee times from 11am on blocked off. Sunset is at 5:11pm. So we should have no problem fitting in the round and maybe even get back out for an El Camino loop. Tee times will be determined as we get closer.
-
The Games - Most of you have played with me and know I like to have a little extra action when we play. It will be your choice on whether or not you would like to opt into these. Based on the numbers we get committed (on the below I am assuming 20-ish) we can obviously make the prizes cooler. So here I have a couple of ideas:
-
A Stableford / Quota Game
1. $10 buy in - PRIZE: [Tobacco Road Players Card for 2021](https://tobaccoroadgolf.com/play-2021/)
2. Everyone starts at -36. Then, add back in your course handicap. The get points as follows: Eagle +8, Birdie +4, Par +2, Bogey +1, Double or Worse 0.
- Straightest Drive on 4
1. $5 buy in - PRIZE: $100 Tobacco Road Gift Card
2. Iāll get a line down the middle of the fairway. Closest to the line, while in the fairway will be the winner.
- Closest to the Pin on 6
1. $5 buy in - PRIZE: $100 Tobacco Road Gift Card
2. Should be self explanatory
- Closest to the Pin on 14
1. $5 buy in - PRIZE: $100 Tobacco Road Gift Card
2. Should be self explanatory
-
The Philanthropy - I may get more creative over the next three weeks and have some more ideas, but I wanted to make sure we had a charitable giving aspect to this little get together. I volunteer with the First Tee of the Triangle so the plan is to have that be our chosen organization.
-
As of now I plan to personally donate for every birdie and eagle made out on the course that day: $2.50 for birdies and $10 for eagles.
-
I will come up with more ideas to get everyone involved!
Alright, thatās all the key information for now. So whatās the actions for you guys and gals?
- Invite others! Send on the sheet. The more the merrier (and if I need to ask for more tee times I will!)
- I added a column in the spreadsheet for you to mark if you are a first timer at Tobacco Road.
- Opt in for āThe Gamesā as you would like - do this by putting a ā1ā in the column next to your name in the google sheet.
- HERE IS THE GOOGLE SHEET for any updates or to be shared
Of course let me know if you have any questions, or have any more ideas to throw my way. Looking forward to getting everyone out there.
Cheers,
Thomas
This is so awesome @Swing_hard_and_hope!!
Except thisā¦
Discouraging the eagles by flirting with the left side. I will still gamble it though.
Also this made me chuckle. Poor kids will never see a dime of this. A real shame.
Nice work. Iāll copy your donation format but do so net so there is a possibility of something actually getting paid out!
This is going to sweet. Just happened to find my scorecard from when we played in September and itās not a pretty sight. Hoping for more of the 39 on the front, as opposed to the 48 on the back. I showed my wife the photos I took and the Tourist Sauce episode and now sheās considering joining, maybe just for the walk.
