Whatever they have! Not picky  thanks guys!!! Let me know who to Venmo!

For anyone interested here is the Durham Amateur leaderboard after day 1. Don’t know if anyone has ever played in this but its held at Hillandale Golf Course right outside of downtown. Some very low numbers on the first day.

I love Hillandale.

Such a classic, grew up playing middle school and a little bit of high school there, love the course and the staff. I had no clue D Ross designed the back 9 I think until about a month ago.

Yes its incredible what he does with that. And the plaque from where he had his holeout on 14 is unreal.

Anyone looking to play during the week anywhere between 6/29 and 7/2. Was thinking about a southern pines trip

I haven’t planned that far out yet, but for anyone else burning up some extra PTO like myself, I have a noon tee time 6/18 at Lonnie Poole. I’m going to brave the walk for $42 any other takers, let me know.

Hopefully Lonnie won’t be too busy on a weekday… but I’m sure it will be.

Anyone play Oak Hollow lately? How’s it looking?

Headed to Atlantic Beach in a few weeks - Beaufort Club or Brandywine?

Our company gives us the week of the 4th off every year. Rarely use it to full advantage as wife doesn’t get that time off

@Fore20 this is where you play frequently I think?

i live in HP but dont play oak hollow very often TBH, havent played it in a couple months.

i was just talking to someone who had played it recently and they were disappointed in the current conditions…i cant remember who was telling me this though tbh

Thanks good info. Took off work next Tuesday and looking for somewhere to play that’s not in the normal rotation

We get a day off for the fourth, this year that’s the 3rd since the 4th is Sat. But hot dang the week that’d be alright.

Regarding the SP trip, I go down to play that way all the time, well worth the hour drive.

I usually find a first thing in the AM tee time, I rarely start later than 8am to try and avoid 5 hour rounds. Some people don’t like waking up early but give me a holler sometime if that early fits your schedule.

i think oak hollow is solid overall, but theres just something about it that i dont love, probably just the fact its a pete dye

there are other course in the area i find far more enjoyable to play

greensboro national has been in fantastic shape recently, has a good layout and is gettable

Any Charlotte folks have membership at any of the semi-privates around here? I mostly play the publics (Harry Jones, Charles T. Myers, love Charlotte National), but Springfield is pretty near me and really nice. Wondering if those memberships end up making a lot of sense. Muuuch cheaper than any of the country clubs ($175/month), but I’m also guessing you can’t fly through a 3 hour round on a Saturday given all the normies like myself still fill up the tee sheet.

I’ve only played Oak Hollow out your way, but I’ll put a vote in for it. I think the front 9 along the lake is really fun.

Next time I’m out at the inlaws, we’re gonna have to hit up Jamestown or one of the others that you like.

I don’t live in CLT so disregard my opinion if not helpful. I’ve always been reluctant to join anywhere that isn’t truly private. Respectfully my $.02:

No matter how they sell it to you, that fees are this or that, if you’re competing against the public for tee times, your rounds will be longer and course overcrowded/conditions suffer accordingly.

I have considered some like Lonnie Poole here in Raleigh. I know that I spend more than some semi-private memberships per month on golf. I am ok with that because I’m not committed to a fixed fee and I get to control the variety of courses and times that I play.
