Roll Call: New Orleans

Better that than the many divorces I’m sure it’s led to.

I actually am pretty positive I witnessed a marriage fall apart that night.

It was at Napoleon and the guy had a drink dumped on him and then an engagement ring thrown in his face. What a time.

Wow. This might be the best thing I’ve ever read.

@ltrisler prepare yourself

Damn. You hit the gauntlet while you were in town.

Shit, the accuracy of this hits so hard

Me going through The Noose Saturday

Well first time around was a delight. The wind was an absolute FACTOR. But It’s defintely a good little hidden gem! I’d like to come back when she’s green and warm. I thought I had the noose by the throat and then she chewed me up and spit me out…

Is there a more broad Louisiana thread on here? I’m in Lake Charles, just wondering about any Louisiana events that might be being planned for 2021…

I haven’t seen one. @ltrisler is from Monroe and contributes on here so welcome to the fuckin show!

@LivingLagunaLoca has tossed the idea of an event around Jazz Fest (late April). Keep an eye on here.

How about the wildly apparent difference between the front and back? Literally a tale of two cities.

100% it felt sorta cramped on the front and for sure opened up on the back but I liked how it’s not just a bunch of driver wedge out there!

Finally got my Golfer’s Journal in and read the piece on Joseph Bartholomew and thought it was tremendous. I thought the author tried to give him a little too much design credit for MCC because Anthony Pioppi in the last year has said that they had definitively confirmed that Raynor designed it and was on the ground with Bartholomew while it was being built. I will say that the Members at MCC I know well (myself included) hold Bartholomew in very high regard.

As the article puts forth Bartholomew is a legend and should be celebrated not only in New Orleans but the golf world as a whole. A truly remarkable man in a difficult time.

He definitely made it seem like Bartholomew had a lot of influence in the design and i was wondering how much truth was in that. Agreed, It puts some things into perspective.

I really need to quit drinking and posting.

True that the back 9 is more open but it is not fun playing #16 in the normal crosswind if you have any kind of round going, on the rare occasions when that is the case.

Same goes for #15. When they had the tees further back that was one hell of a par 3. Think it’s at about 120-130 from the whites now.

15-18 is a tough closing stretch pending the wind. #17 can be visually intimidating, but I’ve found it to be one of my favorite holes on the course.

Every year my wife and I choose the cuisine of a different city in the world to make for new year’s Eve this year, we’re going New Orleans.

Got the red beans and rice going right now, along with some Cajun shrimp, chicken po boys, and beignets planned.

Happy New Year, all!
