Honestly, not surprised. If you had told me that the pot the gumbo is made in was what the COVID strain was born out of, I wouldn’t have been shocked.
Disclaimer: Still so damn good, and I think that the gumbo pot never having been cleaned was why it was so good.

Haha. I’ve been in the back kitchen to watch the chef cook the redfish dish (low key the best item on the menu), and you’re not wrong in your assessment.

Appreciate this! I’ll pass it along.
I don’t remember the name of every restaurant we ate at, but on top of Coop’s Place and Muriels, I had an absolutely amazing Buffalo shrimp po boy at a stand in the French market, but the best po boy I had was the Oyster Royale at Oak Alley Plantation.
We also went the week of the tomatoe festival, so we got a lot of our lunches from some awesome stands down there.

One of my biggest regrets was not going out for breakfast more often. We stayed at The Richelieu and ate breakfast there all but one day.
I forgot them, very good as well. Haven’t been since COVID. One of the best parts was the bar across the street having cheap drinks to get a buzz going before brunch since Biscuits and Buns doesn’t offer alcohol.

NoLa holds a special place in my heart.
I’ll be back, and you will absolutely find me crushing 3 for 1 beers at The Cat’s Meow when I do return.

My wife is convinced that place is responsible for our twins. shrugs
Last time I was there it was for a work outing. My cousin and I took it upon ourselves to bless the patrons with a duet to Family Tradition by Hank Jr.

@anon15484665 I then proceeded to throw up on my neighbor’s front porch and not realize I was at the wrong house until I was done. Needless to say, I pressure washed their house for free and moved out the next year. Stay in school, kids.

The whole week we were there involved 3 for 1 drink specials at Bourbon Street’s finest establishments.
Shoutout New Orleans Pride, Tomato Festival, and the Stanley Cup Final all taking place the same time as my honeymoon.
Special shoutout to The American Sports Saloon for showing NHL hockey, offering 6 beers for the price of 1, and having the best damn chili-cheese waffle fries I’ve ever had.
We refer to holes 5-8 at Oak Harbor as “The Noose”, since it meanders in a loose oval and tightens around your throat the more you struggle.
