Roll Call: New Mexico

Just logged my details into the sheet, another Albuquerque guy here.

4 corners/Southwest merch could be sick. So many ways you could go with that

I’m in, this is a great idea. Hopefully the guys will give us the thumbs up in the interest of geographic diversification. I don’t play much weekend golf (young family) but would shoot for 1-2 events per year when my parents are out here visiting/babysitting. Agree with @BrysonsLats that we have a lot of good merch possibilities - some great state flags (sorry, Utah kinda sucks) and the best combo of photogenic terrain/landscapes out there.

Looks like we may have enough to make a SW Roost (AZ, NM, Vegas), and the couple of Utah guys join the CO/Denver one since it’s a lot closer geographically.

Hello NM,

I created a new SW Regional Roost thread so we can all communicate and iron out the details there.

@BrysonsLats looking at Arroyo tomorrow between 11-12. It’s close to home and I haven’t played there in awhile. Interested?

Unfortunately I’m gonna be stuck at work haha

I have a great work schedule where I work 9 hour days and get every other Friday off (IYKYK). My boss is super cool and lets me shift my off day to a middle-weekday whenever I feel like it, which is why I mostly golf during the week when courses are less crowded. Actually going to switch from Wed to Thursday morning if that makes a difference to you.

Oh man, the mega flex schedule! Still a no go this week, but in the future I’d definitely been game for some week day golf. I still have a ton of leave built up from last year when everything was locked down

Hi All!

New to this community, but not to New Mexico. I play at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. If anyone ever wants a game, let me know. Nice track, some really good holes, quiet and inexpensive.

Hey everyone -
Just checking in. ABQ here, play mostly Arroyo and Canyon Club.
Learned the game on the Island in the Sky…

Welcome! I’ve considered ADO my de facto home course, but UNM North has made a strong push for this honor over the past year.

Favorite hole at Arroyo?

Eight is the most challenging. Six is my favorite - driveable, risk-reward, usually 3-putt when I drive it. Haven’t played North in years, used to play it almost daily (you know, instead of going to class).
Canyon and UNM Championship are the two best/most challenging courses in town.

That’s a good call on #6. I’m not a huge fan of #8 but it fits in well after the fun/get-able #5-6-7 stretch. I really like the closing four holes and would say #18 is my favorite hole on the course: good risk/reward on the tee shot by flirting with the right rough and OB to get the speed slot, plus a really good green.

I haven’t played Canyon but I agree UNM South is a bear. Curious if you have played Paradise Hills and where that fits in for you? I’ve liked it quite a bit both times I’ve played out there.

Hmmm. Paradise falls into the if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all category…it’s gone downhill over the years. Don’t leave your clubs unattended there. It is very walkable, I’ll say that. I’m assuming you’re relatively new to ABQ? I went to school here in the 80s and never left, and have played pretty much every course around here multiple times. The pueblo courses are all pretty good (helps they don’t have to pay for their water), Santa Ana, Twin and Sandia are better than Isleta.

Hey @Blinkman2, wife and I will be doing a bird visit to Bosque in mid-January. I plan to ditch her on 1/18 for a round at NM Tech, probably around 11a-12p. Will reach out when tee sheet opens up if you are gonna be around.

That sounds great! 1/18 at that time is perfect for me.

Nice! I have it on my calendar to book, will confirm for you…

@RolandOfGilead @BrysonsLats either of you fellas interested? It’s mid-week which might work better, though a bit of a drive…

Excellent. I’ll be up in ABQ either on 12/27 or 12/28 if you’re up playing. Midday is probably the earliest I could swing as it’s about a 2.5 hour drive from where I live.

I’m around, far as I know. Will see if I can get you on Tanoan as my guest if you like?
